"will be notified by the admissions committee of their admissions decision by December 15. "

So does this mean that they send them out on the 15th or they expect we will get it in the mail by the 15th? theres no way we can find out besides waiting for the letter is there?

i doubt it would be in the mail by the 15th because how would they control that? but who knows? if it is BY the 15th that might mean that we could hear back sooner0

It means you should expect to get it on or before the 15th, unless you are international. Depending on how far away you live, you should get it somewhere between the 12th and the 15th.

I'm counting down the days until the 17th just to be sure. I live in NM and it always takes forever for me to get my mail, so I don't want to be disappointed if I don't get mine by the 15th. But if I get it on or before that would be even better!

I looked at the old thread from last year, and apparently some people found out before the 15th, but the majority seemed to find out either on or after. Some said they called on the 15th and were told to call back tomorrow to find out decisions (if they hadnt gotten it in the mail). Some people got individual calls (dont know if they're telling the truth, but I'd like to think that some of us are getting calls).

Well, everything I've gotten from GU has arrived at my house 3 days after it's postmark...

Oh man. I didn't even consider snail-mail... I just assumed it was going to be e-mailed out on the 15th. I live in not-too-far-away Long Island, so that means I could get it as early as one week! (says jangel)

I didn't think to see how long it took me to get mail from Georgetown. But two days ago I got a letter from Massachusetts that was sent Thursday and I got it on Monday. They're both on the east coast so maybe thats about how long it will take me to get my Georgetown letter. But if the mail comes on the 15th and my letter is not in it, I'll call them. Or maybe not. I don't know if I want to find out about my deferrel over the phone.

I emailed and they told me that "You will receive your
decision in the mail on or around December 15." so i guess that's still open for interpretation but yeah.

Both the deferral letters and acceptance letters come in the same size envelope. However, the acceptance letter usually will be thicker since it contains more information. Last year, it had 3 sheets of paper and the paper was brightly colored so you could see it without even opening the envelope! =) Hope that helps guys~ And I believe last year the decisions were mailed out a few days before the 15th, because most people got them on the 14th, 15th, and 16th depending on how far away you lived. Good luck guys~
