December 2009 SAT Writing Thread

^It needed to be deleted. The sentence was not germane to the passage at all.

not everythin is just delete

wat about change ceramic to ceramics

efff wat abt the other questions for impriving sentences this is so dumbb

were these the answers:

30) about the wisdom with which they adopted to the subway station

that reuiremnet

seaport on green sea

-the one abt the where the sentence shud be placed
like near the mosaic cuz its said “features” clearly

was the subway system on section 2 or 7?

-The fact that Greeks made ceramics did nothing to contribute to the passage. Also, I think “ceramic” can be used collectively…like if you say “his glassware” you are referring to all the glassware he owns, you don’t say “his glasswares.”
-“That requirement” was the answer.

 • The adding the sentence one should have been after sentence 14 (the last sentence) because he had just said how they use cost effective materials that dont get dirty easily.

Subway was on section 7. The Hawaiian museum story was in section 2, which was experimental.

Also, for ceramic, the answer was certainly to delete the sentence. The sentence was something like, “The Greeks made statues over 2,000 years old out of ceramic.” Ceramic is a material. If you Google “made of ceramic” and “made of ceramics”, the former has about three to four times as many results. Ceramics can either refer to multiple forms of ceramic materials/products, or it can refer to the act of making things out of ceramic.

I am 100% positive you had to delete it.

In the context, it didn’t fit at all. It was just kind of slapped in there…

oh what about the question about the mosaic

it asked u to place it after the sentence

i dont remmeber what sentence but it had to be a sentence when they were descrbiing the features and how the mosaic wouldnt get dirty

cuz it began with “these features”

number 35 was hellla tricky

I said (E) it should have been after sentence 14.

dang i hope i put e too
but wasnt it after the sentence where they talk about the mosaics??

I said (E) as well.

The sentence should have been after the sentence talking about the features that were cost effective and would get less dirty…which was sentence 14, the last sentence of the passage.

yea i hope i didnt put after sentence 13 crappppp idk nowww

Anybody know the curve???

^ Nah, no one knows until the 22nd.

Does anyone remember the last 2 questions? They were the only ones on that section that gave me trouble.

d nerd which section?

@natacion and TQSMNTASP did u guys ever see a sentence with mosaics in that passage that could float? or was there no such sentence?

???
