December 2010 ACT Science Discussion

Reading this thread I only missed 1 or 2, but I guessed on a few that I don’t think have bene posted or most likely I forgot the questions I skipped

Heres hoping for a 30

Gorrids was definitely unfertilized eggs. For some reason I also remember it being males, but that doesn’t make sense…

I got the twisted rope one and metamorphism wrong, :(

@Wong: Uh no, I was talking to ilucky27, not you.

The definition for the gravid frogs was in the last sentence of the first paragraph. Gravid is also an English word that means “pregnant” from the Latin, gravis, meaning “heavy.”

Edit: Woops posted at the same time as Classicsboy

classicsboy: I remember that too. In parenthesis I think. Definitely had to do with unfertilized eggs. If “males carrying unfertilized eggs” was an option I might have picked that on accident because I assumed there wouldn’t be such a ridiculous answer choice.

ugh…ok -2 so far…what was the one where WongTongTong said “One of the things I think was one color didn’t absorb any light at 4 min.” What was the question for this one?

^Idk I made up that question, lol.

Do any of you remember a graphical answer representing a downward line in/around the second quadrant? I believe it was among the charged balls set.

I think it was the second quadrant y=-x

I hope so actually

The more negative the X values went, the less the angle went, so I’m kinda sure it was.

^ I remember that graph as well.

-1 so far. How many were answers were posted? AND Thanks Wongtong

What did you guys put for the increased exposure one? It was on the section with the blue/green/yellow graphs.
I put increased exposure increases concentration because I think I remember reading it was a direct relationship in the intro. But I wasn’t sure

^ That was one of the few questions I was unsure about for Science. Wasn’t it specifically asking for the range 2-12 for Blue?

I think so. I was debating whether to choose that or “increased exposure decreases concentration” but that went against the whole direct relationship thing so I didn’t choose that

Hmm, that’s what I put: “increased exposure decreases concentration”. What did other people get for that question?

I think i picked B for the last 2 rows on the science part… Was b a good choice?

I put increased exposure increases concentration. but I wasn’t sure.

Since I didn’t get to the Conflicting Viewpoints part (the person called time 5 min early -_-), I put straight C’s for it (#11-17?). Anyone know if that was a good letter :x

was male with unfertilized eggs an answer? I think I put that down…
