December 2010 - SAT Math 2 Thread

What answer choice was 18 sin theta? As in, was it A, B, C, D, or E?

reading this makes me feel like **** cuz i see a few I got wrong. BUT I have been told by admissions counselors that a 750 and above is treated pretty much the same. so if you dont get ur 790 or 800 and get a 760, you look the same to them. good luck on applications!

o oops i meant the surface area problem…did people still get 156ish for that one?

and is the domain question answer–absolute value of x and x doesn’t equal 0, then?

@sporty, I put 182ish, but I was unsure.

For the domain question, I remember the answer simply being “abs(x) >= 2.” The domain could have included 0.

can someone please remind me what the actual abs. value question was?

wait why was the domain include 0? there was a vertical asymptote there…

and anybody else put down 182 and not 156ish?

@khenz15

I lot of it isn’t even about getting in. We all know a 750+ is looked at as a great score to the officers. An 800 just gives that confidence boost/bragging rights/rewarding feeling for a job well done.

It’s all good though.

agree with @sporty

I remember the function being something over x, so how could the domain have included 0?

The vector one was pointing down and to the right. Can’t remember which letter that was.

the domain did NOT include 0.

I put 182ish i think E. it was a logical guess i dunno though

so was this test harder, medium, or very easy? (Curve wise).

Questions I got wrong: ( omitted 5)

The abs value domain question
Origin question
The a question with d±e
the discontinuty question it though it was discontinous at 2 lol?
Probably surface area not sure yet waiting for confirmation

so either 4 wrong and and 5 ommit
or 5 wrong and 5 ommit barring careless mistakes

I’m hoping for 750+ considering I had to cram for this test and that I’m taking Calc and pretty much forgot most of precal since Cal is so much different.

WHAT WAS 182ish?
guys! lets write down the question and do somethihng

i might remember the abs value

the domain was abs (x)< or equal to 2 not including 0

but what is this 182ish?

@rita, yeah so shouldnt the answer have been the choice that said x is not equal to 0…
i put that, i felt pretty confident bout it but CC is always right haha

I think the graph might have been that of cosecant (not that it really matters), seeing as the sine graph is an odd function (symmetrical over the origin) and csc= 1/sin.

WASNT THE SURFACE AREA - You HAVE TO USE PYTHAGOREAN THEOREM??

THERE WERE threE RECTANGLES AND TWO TRIANGLEs

THE TOP ONE = 8 x 7 - 56
the middle one - sqrt 33 x 8 = 46
the bottom one - 8 x 4 - 32
the triangle (both) 4 x sqrt(33) = 23

i got 157 ish that was the answer

@ACTTester, No sir. It was definitely a tangent graph.

the sine one was exactly 0.952 actually Choice A.

156ish hasnt been confirmed, some people including myself ha d182ish.

why was the sin and cos question II and III? I got None for that one.,
