December 2010 SAT Math

this wait is literally tearing me apart inside. I try to forget but I can’t! Any of you got tips for forgetting?

What was the question where you have to reflect g(3) over a line? Was the line y=3 or y=4? I remember the point had a space between it and the horizontal line, so you had to account for that in the reflection. What did people get for this one?

Here are all the answers I have. Just a repost mostly.

12 (find x, x=2g, 3=g/2)??

77th in line

12(averages problem find x)

4 cranks

II only (pythagorean theorem one)

75(what was this one)?

9(what was this one)?

2.40(auto industry problem)?

-9<Y<1

Y=3X(just plugged in 2,6 to each one)

(X-3)(X+2)(had to factor each to find answer)

4:9 (Ratio of 2 square sides is 2:3 what is ratio of area?)

(X+5)^2 - X^2 = 125 (word problem, rearranged to solve for x)

I and III (which of the following equations are always true for any values of a and b)

72pi (semicircle one)

|H-68|<6 (pilot one)(option d?)

f(-1)=f(1) is False

12

1/4 tomato/potato question

15.) rad 136 (cylinder)
16.) (9, 10) fits in equation

The line was y=4. f(3) was 3, so g(3) is 5.

Minor point: the question asked for the time a bus (not a train) left. The only reason I’m pointing this out is because 9:10 looked like an answer to the 2:3 side length area ratio problem, so clarifying the question (and maybe putting 9:10 AM) may help.

Yes, that’s the auto industry one.

Thank you, 314159265, for clarifying. Didn’t the y=4 line or y=5 line start to go off the graph?

wasn’t it reflected over y=3. I thought the answer was 3

i could of swore the train left at 6:50… so wouldn’t it be 9:20???

No, it was reflected over y=4.

Nope, first bus left at 6:40. I remember because I almost picked 10:00 before realizing that the 5th bus left at 10.

Anybody remember that question at the very end of one section where the price of a car or something increased from some amount of money to another. The increase was 20% over 10 years and you needed an equation of the yearly percentage increase, i believe…what was the anwer for that question, was it like E??

314- ok but wasn’t the answer still 3? Because if you reflected it the point would still be located there.

And for the train one I def picked something with 9 o clock so i should be good. The answer was D right? Cuz E was with 10 or whatever

^I dont think that is the same question…

^ it was E.

tenchar

@needshelp1212, the answer was = 5.

g(3) = 5

How do you get 5?

I really blew this when they had easy math sections. If i retake it ( this was my first time) will the math def be harder or is it always like this? I cant wait till dec 21st because im stressing out over this so much. I feel like an idiot compared to this board

Math is usually always relatively the same difficulty; I mean, the difficulty will always be reflected in the curve anyways so there’s really no answer.

hm. but does anyone else think that this math section was just harder in general? (the one with the 20 million –> 24 million in 10 years question where the answer was E)

like i’ve done math sections before, but this one felt tougher than usual. i thought so, at least. am i the only one who felt that way? :</p>

I thought it was harder than it’s generally so maybe we’ll get a generous curve.

i honestly thought though, that this was harder than the usual 780 curve practice tests o.o

like the ax^2 + bx + c where you had to solve for “a” on that grid in problem. that was nuts (even though i got it, still i was thinking “i’ve never had that kind of question before”)

same for the one with the 20 million –> 24 million in 10 years, it was tougher than usual i thought

Is the curve same for all the different versions of the math administered? Or is it by version of test?
