DECEMBER 2011 SAT Pre/Post Test Discussion

It was a Grid question so you won’t lose point for it, and I don’t know whether or not they will count it, next time it is safer to just put the fraction rather than a decimal of it

did anyone get “70” on the grid in solving for x? and also “8.5” for the y value where the slope had to be between 2/3 and 1

you cant grid the fraction .42/7.3 it doesnt fit o.0 and yea thats what i mean, do u think they will count .056? did anybody else put .056 for the asian problem?

@Joepaterno yea i got 8.5 for the y value

yeah i did

what was the question about the slope between 2/3 and 1 again?

does anyone remember exactly what the question was asking?

it gave you the point (0,1) and (10,x). you had to solve for x knowing the slope was between 2/3 and 1 so i just plugged 3/4 in for the slope. 3/4 = x/10

does anyone rememebr a question where it showed a graph, and it gave you two points like
and you had to solve for a point on the graph that was between those two points?

The shape that was shown on the graph was like a trapezoid

^mustve been experimental

Hey guys, if you felt the nutrition label problem was unfair to those unfamiliar with nutrition labels, such as immigrants, then email the Collegeboard. For example, what if an Asian immigrant saw that problem? They might not know that calories and calories from fat is separate.
Please email them here:
satquestion@info.collegeboard.org

We are trying to get the question nullified http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1252124-dec-2011-sat-1-math-question-nutrition-label-problem-2.html

@miceman
LOL you need to stop making generalizations…not all immigrants would misunderstand this problem and there are certainly NON-immigrants (jkim94) who didn’t understand the problem as well. “What if an Asian immigrant saw that problem?” Seriously? You’re so shallow that you claim Asian immigrants can’t understand Calories and Calories from fat? Had you guessed and gotten it right, I doubt you would be complaining about it.

What did you guys put for the question, it was a number 18 with the graph and the slope of .31? what happens if you take away the point? Also say what choice it was that you put.

Also, the question it was like 14. all i remember is something about the vending machine and 120, 4/5 beverages and 5/6 how much would be needed to fill up the vending machine ?

I think someone said the slope would increase for the graph one

and the vending machine was 196 items to fill back up both vending machines

Do you know what letter choices those were? sorry! and how do you get 196?

I think it was C, D, or E for the graph

and you get 196 because it asked how much it would take to fill BOTH of the vending machines back up again after one was 5/6 empty and the other 4/5 empty, and if they were both full that would mean 240 items of stuff so, 240-44(which is the amount of stuff remaining) = 196 to fill both of them back up

240 - ((120/5)(4) + (120/6)(5))

The question with the answer choice juxtaposition was asking for a word for the appearance of the art thing.

juxtaposition: positioning
semblance: outward appearance

I put semblance

What was the critical reading experimental section about!!!??? someone mentioned a possibilty earlier but it was extremely vague

miceman, im an Asian American who came here less than 5 years ago. Even I can read a food label. Dont ask people to email cb to nullify the problem just because it “seems” unfair. They have food labels too in Asia LOL
