DECEMBER 2011 SAT Pre/Post Test Discussion

i thought it was dubious too

I did the same oopp

wait… I thought both I and II were true for the math one…

@tjhsstKid21 I got 35 for the french/mathematics question!

First reading:

 • short: ???
 • long: Jordan

Second reading:

 • short: 1. sea rocket-botanical wonder, 2. scented ink
 • long: 1. war and writing, 2. building up some house, memory, blah, blah,blah…

Third reading:

 • long: biofuel

i got dubious too.

I put reserved for that question because he presented both the positives and negatives and seemingly did not inject his own personal opinion. Probably wrong, but that was my thinking.

Does anyone remember the area problem whose answer was 40?

wasnt 2 true? 35/(35+80) < .4?

now i realize my answer of 22 was wrong :frowning:

The last writing section i was torn between ‘compare to’ and ‘like’, I ended up putting like because it wasn’t comparing to anything, any opinions?

Luckily this doesn’t really matter for me cause I’m already in college and taking the Sat only costs 10$ more than sending 4 score reports in case I want to transfer, still disappointed though cause I wanted to get an 800 on math (what do you think the curve’s going to be like?) and just raise my writing by 720+ but I always do so bad on the essays…

@ThaMan
It couldn’t have been, because he was simply skeptical at biofuel’s true worth. He wasn’t lamenting that biofuel is worthless; he did mention that it has commercial value. He was playing with it too, as seen at the end where he said there would be a lot of cornflakes.

@tjhss
I chose lava and water combine because the resultant was a plural noun and “combination” is singular. I’m not sure, though.

What was the answer to the ones with the choices of machination, plasticisity, semblance

and the other question , it was the last sentence completion with acuity, transient,…idr. and it started with like his remarks were biting…

for that asia new york math question, i put .055…will that be wrong?

I put “like” too, i first put “as” then changed it

yea i got 35

@opp
your correct about the lava one b/c the other was singular

does anyone remember the people looking at the pony problem in the second reading?

for the biofuel, lines 48-51, something about it was heaven for speechwriters or something

what was the answer to that one?

Oh man the scented ink passage was bad for me… What did you guys put down for the questions?

@chillbro
It couldn’t have been; I don’t remember the question, actually, but I did the math and I is the only true option.

@ defiance a+b =5 a=b+1. What is 10^a(1.12^b). Something very close to that
