the octupus one

@mochilate1897 but wasn’t the question what was the significance of the first paragraph and not the entire paragraph?

I remember the octupus question ending with “… compared to that of…” which was correct

no compared with is to compare similarities/differences between objects. compared to is used to compare one thing to another, ex. The bus driver was compared to a moron

For one of the reading questions, it asked if what the mother was meaning when describing the haiku or something… choices were like 1) economy of expression, 2) flexibility of form, etc. i said flexibility of form because she says that in those limited lines, she could talk about many things, therefore flexible. agreed?

Was the answer to vocab “devoid and perfunctory” or “uninterested and lackadaisical” for the sentence about the speaker?

devoid and perfunctory

Did anyone have a math question involving utensils?

oh and also in the lines “now, this melancholy song”, what was the answer? that question was confusing!

@nervusguy it was economy of expression, she talked about how she had to pack all that meaning into a fixed number of lines and a fixed number of syllables, which is more rigid than flexible. Economy of expression ties to the many messages that she was trying to get across in her haiku (cats and good luck, etc).
Also, im pretty sure that the octopus question was no error because the question already had “compared to” in it, meaning that it was correct

what was the melancholy song question more specifically?

well that question + the “now, this melancholy song” were the ones that were hard on the reading passage 1. rest i felt were okay, except for some on the procrastination paragraphs. eh

mochilate what did you put for the melancholy song question

the answer choices were like “naivete of language barriers”, “not understanding her mother’s reaction”, etc.

what did you guys get for the grid in math question about the number of degrees for z with the quadrilateral and the extended line?

@nervusguy I remember now, i put that she wanted to connect to her mother

@stephenjk it should have been 180 (line) - 118 (angle in quadrilateral) = 62

I believe it was 62. By the way, did you have a math question about utensils? It may have been a variable section

i was tempted towards that, but she showed a lot of disinterest towards her mother which proved otherwise, you know? like she wasnt interested in her mother’s work. i put naivete in the language barriers

since she was basically saying that it was better to say “yes, yes” than actually try communicating with her mother
