This was my second and last ACT. First one in September 2016 was 32C 35E 32M 34R 28S (Sucks because I am very science-savvy in school). For this test, everything stayed the same, except for Math. Math increased by 1 point to a 33, which brought my composite to a 33.
@ScN2018 I understand where you’re coming from and want to point out that I never do great on ACT math because of time constraints and misreading a problem or two (I’m in Calc so content is never an issue).
In contrast, English and Reading have always seemed much easier to me. If you understand 8th-grade grammar rules, you can pass the English with a high score. Most people (I assume you) get caught up on finding what sounds good, instead of just saying “the rule is ____”. There is always a straightforward rule that they are testing you on in the English section, and the Reading section is always based on what you read (often word for word). Idk. I hope that helps and gives you some insight into the-weirdos-who-like-English-but-suck-at-math.
So happy to have gotten a 36 in math on my first test as a junior!
I predict that for math 36 was -2/3
I still haven’t gotten my scores yet and I don’t know why… Do they not all come out at once?
@pumpkineater123 No my daughter hasn’t received yet nor has her friend.
Do you happen to know when the next batch will be released?
Math curve generous? I guessed on like the last 10 of the September test and got a 29. I felt really confident about Dec one (probably got more questions correct) and got a 28.
@pumpkineater123 Batches are released every Wednesday and Friday (according to the ACT website).
@ScN2018 , math may look straightforward, but not everyone understands math, even from an early age. To many it comes easy but not to all.
Anybody suggest whether or not I should retake with a 33 C? Thanks!
Where do you want to go to school? @Benji3025
Forgot to mention that I snagged a 36 in math (first time taking as a junior :D)… and @univbound101 ivy-caliber schools
@Benji3025 you don’t necessarily need to retake it, and many people will tell you not to out of jealousy. I got a 33 first time without studying and retook it just for fun. I only improved one point but I’m so glad I retook it. It was one of the best choices I have made these last 4 years. Take it one more time and aim for a 35. It will open more doors scholarship wise and will make you even more competitive (even though you have already reached most school’s testing threshhold).
E: 35 (Usually my best section, not too surprised)
M: 34 (A little surprised based on how hard I thought this section was in comparison to the practices that I’ve taken, the curve must’ve been generous)
R: 30 (Usually my worst section, I wanted a 32 but it’s not the end of the world)
S: 35 (I usually get a 32 on this section, very surprised but it did seem easy)
C: 34 (Not bad for my first time eh)
I’m an international student and I haven’t received my scores. Is anyone else in the same situation? Do international scores come out late?
ACT twitter says that the next batch will come out next Wednesday… which sucks
where does it say that?
I heard that test scores also come out on fridays, but I’m sort of nervous… when I did the old sat the result came out on the same day
@mdudaramos yep same situation
@mdudaramos, the ACT twitter page says that although scores are usually posted on Wednesday and Friday, due to the holiday the next batch won’t come out until Wednesday.
