December ACT 2008 Math

Zaboda42, you are wrong.

Height of dad== 75;
Height of son== 50;
Distance between dad and end of shadow==120
Distance between son and end of shadow== ?
distance between son and dad == 120-distance between son and end

Distance between son and end of shadow == 120/75 = x/50 --
x= 120*50/75 == 80

Distance between son and dad == 120-80 = 40

It was the first time I took the ACT, so when I heard you got an hour I figured I could take my time.

Big mistake. Last column ended being all guesses.

deathlyboy is correct on the height question. ugh ive already figured out that ive missed at least 5 on the math and they were all easy ones :/ any prediction on what -5 will be for math? 33?

Were either of these answers B?

slope ………………………. -1/2
cos Θ ………………………. 4/5

the answers ^^^ are right....dont know answer choices...though

do u guys think -1 will be 36?

ya. the math was insanely hard and im already done with all 3 years of calculus....

The math was way harder compared to last times and they included a logic problem and arithmetic sequence problem. I'm pretty sure there will be a nice curve. I think -4 or -5 for a 34.

^but wasn't the arith sequence really basic (at least compared to the SAT)?

the letter for -1/2 was a and the 4/5 was j, and thank god cause i missed a few, but they were really easy ones :/ like i got the last ten all right and missed like 5 of the early 20s cause to stupid mistakes.

I'm almost sure about that log w^x one. I'm like 99.9999999% sure it said x had to be an integer greater than 1.

yes x did have to be an integer greater than one, but the answer wasn't solving for x.

Yeah, the answer to the log problem was definitely -4

the log one was -4

"yes x did have to be an integer greater than one, but the answer wasn't solving for x."

Yes it was. It wasn't asking for w, or was it? I think it was asking for x.

What is always the solution for logw (x^w/x^5w)? == -4

Eh, whatever. Any chance that a -1 is a 36?

For the slope one (second to last), was that answer choice B?

Yes. A -1 will surely still be a 36.

I thought it was 0 (C), since it said that if you changed the slope of point C, it wouldn't affect the area of the triangle. The other choices would've changed the the area of the triangle.
