Deciding universities for food science major

I am currently considering between Purdue University or UC Davis for pursuing bachelors degree in food science. After doing some research online, I found that Purdue has a higher rank than UC Davis for that major and it also guarantees 100% job placement for the graduate. I have known some people who graduated from Purdue get jobs in some well-known food industries. Basically I am really keen to go there if not for the extreme cold weather. I have been living in California for the past few years and used to the hot weather here. My facial skin has very low tolerant to the cold weather and I am afraid if it will get worsen when I move there.
Moreover, is the Food Science major in Purdue as hard as the engineering major? I heard it's hard to graduate from Purdue University. That's why right now I am confused if UC Davis would be a better choice, but I cannot find information on what kind of food industries are linked with UC Davis for its internship.

Have you already been accepted by both of these places, or are you still making your application list?

If you are working on your list, well then apply to both of them, visit if you have time, and decide in the spring when all of your admissions offers are on the table.

If you have applied for this fall, and just can’t decide between the two of them, I can tell you that the weather is much colder in Indiana during the winter. Your concerns about your skin are fully justified. Davis is probably the better choice for you. Since you are concerned about job and internship placement at Davis, pick up the phone and call the department and/or the career center. They can answer your questions about those issues.

If you are instate CA, UC Davis! Great school and it’s a top program. If you[ve been accepted to both and the cost is less for instate CA, that would be my vote.

Thank you for the replies! Yes, I have been accepted to both universities for that major. The cost is not a big concern to me since I am an international student, so both of universities cost about the same. Well, I thought using my skin problem as an excuse is pretty silly but I guess not? Now I just need to make sure that Davis will be good enough so that I won’t regret my decision later.
