Deciding which college to go to for pre-med

I am a senior in high school and deciding which college to got to maximize my chances of acceptance to medical school. I have been accepted to the biology program at UCI, UCSD, and UCD. I am extremely interested in pursuing a career in medicine, but i am slightly confused about the process of getting in.

First question: Out of the schools that i have been accepted to, which school would be the best for pre-med? I know that UCSD is the best school academically out of the bunch, however, it is a lot more competitive than the other two, which means that i will probably get a lower GPA. Should i choose the less competitive school (UCI, UCD) or the better and more competitve school (UCSD).

Second Question: I am deciding what to major in. Do science majors have a significant advantage on the MCATs over non-science majors? Would it be wiser to be a science major and probably get a lower GPA or be a non-science major and obtain a higher GPA?

I appreciate any comments and suggestions

Omg, hey, I have this exact question too! UCI vs. UCD vs. UCSD!

As for the second question, I've done a lot of looking around the forum, and it seems that being in a science major would help you finish the required courses for med school and would help you a bit in MCATs because ... MCAT is of what you're studying! But you can just as well self-study for MCATs, I believe.

@_@ But yea! So hard!

Edit: I have Boston College perhaps in the question too!

its wiser to be a non-science major with a high GPA, medical schools like diversity in students. its good to have other skills and intersts besides science

What about a double/triple major or a Master's degree?

Wow... i dont know what to do to get out of this problem... its like should i go to UCSD or UCD because UCI is looked down upon by a number of the colleges, but in generall... the number of people that go to UCSD have a higher percentage of getting into Med school than other schoolls and it looks a lot better than UCD so thats my choice

do you mean in regards to getting into medicine... basically what you have to do is get ur B.S, but if you dont like the school you got into... and your school that ur at has a Masters program u can do in one year... check that out and it increases ur chances... double majors are of no help... triple majors is basically asking for suicide

i had one friend graduate from uci and one from ucsd. the one from uci seems to have actually learned something, not just gotten his degree. i don't know what's important to you, though.

Wrong and wrong.

For admissions: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=214387

For the MCAT:

norcalguy:The MCAT has a ton of reading. Even the science sections are passage-based. Therefore, it is not very surprising that nonscience majors excel in the verbal section and hold their own on the science sections."

About where to go:

I guess you're saying that there's no definite, eh?

As for the choice of colleges, I really don't know how well UCI and UCD is for pre-med because I'm from Texas. Though, I would pick a different major because what medical schools see is thousands of bio majors applying and they want to see diversity. They want to construct a class where is everyone is from a different background and major.
hope it helps.
