Has anyone received any financial aid information yet?

@PA-C…my son has not.

@PA-C I haven’t either.

It’s not posted online for me, and I haven’t received anything in the mail yet (and I live in the Pittsburgh area).

I called today and was told financial aid packages will be mailed next week. They are working on them now .

^ Darn, I was hoping we would get them tomorrow!

@PA-C – My son is an ED admit, and the financial aid package details appeared on the “Where Am I in the Process?” page last Friday.

There’s a “Financial Aid Notification” button near the top of the page, but clicking it just displays a “Your financial aid processing is not yet complete.” message. The aid letter does not display.

CMU received our IDOC stuff at the end of February.

@ccsdavt

I had the same issue. The best thing to do is just call admissions up and ask them what is missing. In the meantime, they will send you a tentative FA package based off of your FAFSA and CSS.

@andoliveyou – Our financial aid letter/package is actually viewable in the portal that’s accessible after you have submitted the enrollment deposit. But I didn’t mention that in my reply to PA-C.

So i have been going to where am i in the process- and clicking the financial aid decision notification box - next to the admission letter box- and it says its not processed yet- but everything has been received for a month now- and cmu confirms they have everything and say they mailed his letter a couple days ago. They said yesterday I should be able to see it today. Am I looking in the wrong place?

@PA-C – If you scroll down the Where Am I page, do you see any info in the Financial Aid section? There’s a table with Financial Aid Awards as the label – that’s where the grant/loan info should be displayed.

BTW, we just now received the actual aid package in the mail.

I see these two headings but nothing under them yet.

Financial Aid Awards
Date Offered Fall Spring Award Name

Guess I will just have to try and be more patient! ;)

FA appeared online today. Husband did it so I can’t help anyone.

Ds got Undergrad grant: 19,885/year

University Scholarship: 9,400/year

Plus a couple loans totaling a couple thousand.

Total FA is just above 30,000/year, leaving us to come up with almost 30.000 to come up with on our own.

Not happening. Ds will go to UBuffalo and not pay a penny.

Yeah, fin aid was rough for me too, so I definitely cannot accept my waitlist invitation. Schools that are meeting my demonstrated need are leaving my family with about $10,000 to pay annually; CMU wanted $32,000.

Financial aid finally showed up and it was not much- our EFC is too high I guess. Not unexpected since the aid he has been offered at other schools was almost entirely Merit based.

This is going to be a very tough decision as son loves CMU SCS.

Did anyone get the Early Financial Estimater thru the mail before getting the actual award? If so, was it close to what was estimated?

6k shy of the estimate

Last year there was a form you could fill out listing the other colleges you were accepted to and what aid they had offered (both merit and need-based), and if you sent it in CMU would sometimes raise their offer. Dunno if they’re still doing that, but if they are it’s worth a shot for everyone who had their heart set on CMU but got better offers elsewhere.

Online still shows financial aid still being processed, but now it show a “financial eligibility” letter mailed yesterday. Hmmm…

ugh lol i got $16k in FA. Which is awesome considering our income bracket. But it sucks cuz I’m still waitlisted… like a slap in the face.

On another note, how helpful would it be if the MIT department head (who is also a CMU alumni) who I worked with over the summer sent an additional rec to CMU for me?
