guys, i called up swarthmore and they say that internationals WILL be receiving decisions through e-mail. And that all decisions will be e-mailed BY April 1st.

thanks khan91. that's tons of help for me. I'm gonna say that it's gonna come out Tuesday (US time) for internationals at least.

iam international but in the states.. what will happen to me???

Does anyone know if someone who got in ED1 will get an acceptance like everyone who gets in RD? I think I read this somewhere but forgot where. While we were overjoyed that S2 got in, the acceptance package was small compared to other acceptances S1 got last year from colleges. I was just wondering if they send out an acceptance like the ones RD get or if they are the same as ED? Thanks!

Does anyone know when non-internationals get their decisions?

ED kids get smaller packages, because the college doesn't need to convince you to attend - you have to. for the RD kids, swat/others send huge letters detailing reasons to attend their school/ accepted students program, so that more will attend, and they will have higher yield, etc.

Swarthmore is pretty low-key when it comes to things like gaudy acceptance packages.

They are kind of like the NFL coaches who frown on showy end-zone celebrations after a touchdown. They want their players to act like they've been there before.

We did, however, end up with a car window decal, so that must have arrived in some package or another.

I'll never forget the year MIT tried to go all fancy, sending cardboard mailing tubes with framable acceptance letter, confetti, and all sorts of junk. They got so carried away with the fancy mailing tubes that they forgot to mail the rejection letters. So they left the vast majority of their applicants with nothing, while reading stories of people opening these pinata-style party acceptance letters. MIT admissions got on-line and lied, saying that it didn't mean you were not accepted if you hadn't received a tube. It was so cruel, because all these kids knew darn well that the rejection letters hadn't been mailed at the same time as the tubes.

In the past, you got a letter if your primary mailing address on file was in the United States (regardless of international status) and an e-mail if your primary address on file was overseas.

oh cool.. so did swathmore send out letter already???

got a rejection letter today :/. expected it though cause I never actually interviewed or did anything to really show interest.

Yes! ED kids do get a big package along with all the acceptees (I think it said something like "now this is the BIG one!" my year). It might come a little later, but you should get it - it has all sorts of information and forms to fill out, so your son should absolutely be getting something!

got my rejection today in MA
little disappointed

I got an early write acceptance about 3 weeks ago but I got another package today with the regular acceptance letter. It's a big package and on the back it says "This is the FAT one."

I might just be neurotic, but I live in NC and still haven't gotten anything.....

PKW - same here! LOL When I got that smaller one on the 14th I thought it was something else they needed sent. Didn't realize until I got to the third page I was accepted early write! LOL
