I did actually pay a visit to the Admissions office yesterday, and, as predicted, nothing much came of it—I got to meet the nice lady I’ve been bugging on the phone since March, that’s about it.

Look, as one who went there, I think UMass is a fine school for the money (and the Valley area is great), BUT it’s not the end-all…I think some departments have a very good reputation, others less so. If for whatever reason you don’t get in, no big deal, take your next best pick and enjoy it…and, as I’m sure you’ve heard, UMass is not nearly as competitive when applying as a transfer student, should it come to that. So there you go.

I’m not sure that’s the case…for instance, as of last week, none of the students from my son’s high school who’d applied to UMass had heard back.

If you were to come to any kind of conclusion, it could possibly be that they’ve been winding down the out-of-state applicant pool (since they get an additional $10K per student) before finishing off with the in-staters. But who knows.

Well
I too went to undergrad admission and got the same thing we have to wait till the letter come out.
When Umass Amherst came to my school they never told us about the other application. And yes i dont think the F&Q page was up till about now. i think UMASS is a great school but they need a better way to tell people about notification. Its my top choice for State schools and being from Mass i thought i would heard back sooner. But this is so silly i dont understand why they cant just do a huge email blast of all kids. like some other colleges.

at least for me the lady on the phone said i would get a letter but when i asked about an email said i would just get the letter
which i didnt take as good new. But who knows.
I just hope that what ever happens i find out soon

I haven’t heard back yet either. I applied EA and was deferred, so it’s been ages…
I’m in MA and know quite a few who haven’t heard yet.
Heard back from all my other schools. Just want this last decision.
Oh and where on the UMass site does it talk about the waitlist? Thanks.

ok that relaxes me a bit. I hope i hear news soon
thank you
Since many of my friends have already been told of acceptance through email i was kinda freaking out
:)

Don’t assume that just because you haven’t heart back yet that you’ve been rejected/waitlisted. If you were rejected they would’ve sent you your rejection letter by now…they’ve received a lot of applicants this year so it’s very competitive. If you have a 3.3 or above and at least a 1750 you should be good though, good luck everyone!!
