decision inquiry?

Don't want to seem pathetic, but does anyone know if there is any mechanism to ask UVA Admissions why a particular student was denied admission? I noticed that several other schools have a decision inquiry process for this, but not sure about UVA. We know all the stated reasons regarding numbers, etc. Just looking for something more specific - something for my D to work on if she decides to try to transfer in. Thanks.

Hey! I wanted to share with you that you absolutely CAN call the admissions office and ask to speak with an Admissions Dean and tell them you want to know what the reason was that your child was not accepted…they may at first try to give you a 'canned response" but keep pressing and they w give you an answer…they told me that my daughter’s senior year was not strong enough…they want you to take the toughest course curriculum that is offered at their high school…this helped me to feel much better because…I just wanted to know…hope that helps

We don’t have a script. I assure you that when we talk on the phone with applicants, our responses are not canned!

Wait, do other schools do this too? I’m at a total loss as to why I was waitlisted at UChicago except the typical response that they had too many applicants.

It depends on the school. The private schools at which I have worked did not talk about decisions after they were released.
