Haha thank Chanakya - who are you really? HK is not really that smelly, but the CHinese name means “fragrant harbour” and it’s really not fragrant! Haha especially for someone who hates the smell of seafood. Ugh…I am going to miss it SO much next year though. The waterworks have already started. Don’t know whether I should go or stay.

Is there anybody from India here who got into Yale and/or Princeton?

Yes. Didn’t you check the Class of 2015 results thread? Check it now.

haha Chanakya we did like it. What’s up with you?

And who doesn’t have shiny ECs?

^ nahh don’t think so. All the people who got in are pretty amazing.

Didn’t expect anything else, though I was hoping. Thanks.

Kartik, don’t worry. Just try as hard as you can. Don’t do things to look good, just do what you like.

Be a student-reporter, get published in magazines, get yourself a job, do things that you find both interesting and rewarding. Might not get you into Princeton but you’ll find it fulfilling. Nothing can guarantee a Princeton acceptance.

Do try to be * very good * at what you think you’re good at.

@debarghya9 - Thanks, I’ll try, but we are expecting to move within a few days, so I can’t do anything right now. We don’t even know where we’ll go.
I already started 12 so I don’t havem much time left either. I do try to maintain a blog, but it’s nothing much.

I’ll take your advice though. I’ll try to do my best, and be good in things I’m good at.

Can you tell me more about the student-reporter thing? Can it be done online?

NSHSS

10 charrrrrrrrrr

I know you all got accepted into some amazing universities but is anyone having cold feet about leaving home?

Haha! This is true! But I’m doing engineering with no intent whatsoever of becoming an engineer! I just want the skills! lol! Plus if I go to H i’ll do Applied Math, not engineering sciences. Thanks for the input though!

In engineering, the Ivy League looks something like this

Cornell
Princeton

Penn Columbia

Brown Yale
Harvard Dartmouth

Haha! :D

Tippu? (haha, yes I lurked though the ode to Tippu season as well)

Besides being incredibly intimidating, you Indian folk are really cool… :P

I got the invite as well and I have been meaning to ask about it. Is it worth joining? How did they get our contact details in the first place?

NSHSS membership is invitation based, and getting an invitatiion from a teacher will be pretty difficult, considering the fact that I can’t think of any teacher who would be able to do that.
Thanks, guys. I’ll try my best, and keep my fingers crossed. Congrats to everybody who got selected!

@Kimathi: From what I’ve read so far, it’s not worth joining at all (and a waste of money). Here are some previous thread from CC if you wish to learn more about this.

What first caught my eye in it was that they said this was the same family who established the * nobel prize * and that harvard dean delivered a keynote at one of their conferences. The arguments on the above threads prove that its kinda BS.

If it’s not worth joining, why did you recommend it?

Er… I didn’t recommend it …

Haha! I’ve spent the past 20 min reseaching it and it is a SCAM!!! lol! A pretty elaborate one at that though! :p

Oops, thought you did X_X
Sorry.

^^ Well, not the ‘Scam’ scam in the sense that its all legal. What sort of ‘honor society/league’ asks you to pay 60 bucks to get enroll anyway. LOL the fact that they sent it to * me * of all people spoke everything of its prestige.

BTW, didn’t the letter and the other material they sent look legit ?

Haha! Don’t get fooled by pretty envelopes! lol!

It is legal. But it is a business, not an honor society… lol!
