I applied to St George's (newport, r.i.) and Hotchkiss (lakeville, ct) I am a white girl from Connecticut, and Hotchkiss is my dream school. My 1st trimester grade (public school) were 6 A's and 2 B's. My SSAT overall score was a 55%(percentile) the first time i took itand 66% the next. I volunteer often and compete in soccer and sailing. Apparently they love me at both schools, and my recommendation letters were great. what are my chances?

if they lvo9e you at both, havent you answered the question yourself?

and you know this how? I am sure you recommendation letters were terrific because everyone's are..........

well actually my teachers like me so much they let me read over them.

your ssat scores are very low. also, your grades aren't very good for a public school. unless you have legacy, i'd apply to different schools.

The grades she is revealing are fine............but 1 trimester? What happened to her previous academic record?

it depends on what kind of public school she went to. i know someone who applied to exeter with straight a's and an 85 percentile on ssats and didn't get in. he was also taking math two grades ahead of his. the ssat scores are very low

Exeter is not on her list........keep that in mind.

Either way, ssats are low, grades are mediocre, she should apply to some other schools.

i also know of a girl who got a 96 percentile on her SSAT and had straight A's. she was accepted to exeter but not tabor, lawrenceville, and groton. my interview went well and the public school i attend is actually the best public school system in the state of connecticut, which has some of the best public schools in the country. my B's were in computers and chorus, not any core courses. i actually considered applying to andover and exeter, but chose not to. i am related directly to the founders of the phillip's academies, which would have helped me get in, but i just don't like the feel of them
