When a college says it will get back to you by a certain date, is there anyway that you recieve your decision really early? I've applied to rensselaer regular decision, but I sent everything in yesterday. Is there anyway they will process my application with the early decision applications?

We don’t know exactly when your application will be read and evaluated but what is certain is that you will receive your decision in the middle of next March. Some schools (mainly some of the ivy and peer schools) send out likely letters starting in late january which basically means you’re accepted however RPI is not one of them.

If you’re worried about getting in, I looked at your ‘chance’ thread and you almost certainly will get into RPI, probably with good money.

In regard to the general question, some colleges do send out some early, and some have rolling admissions. However, most of them release all of the RD decisions together, but they may be a little earlier than the estimated date.

Thanks everyone. I was like 99% sure that what you’ve said is true. I just became curious when I saw that although they said “On …” for early decision apps, they said “by …” for regular decision.

They say “by” because if they have everything done a day or two early they may release the results early. “By” represents the latest possible date.
