Decision UC Davis Day 5/11... possible carpool from Los Angeles

Sup fellow UC Davis prospects.

I'm trying to plan a trip to UC Davis from Los Angeles. We can go to Decision UC Davis, check out off-campus housing, and whatever else.

What I'm gonna do is rent a car and drive up to UC Davis. So that leaves 3 or 4 extra seats. If you're interested, private message me your phone number.

Car rental is going to cost $70 bucks for 3 days(same price for 2 days, I fond a coupon). I'll rent Thursday night, leave early morning Friday, return Saturday/Sunday.

Total trip will be around 900 miles. With ~25-30 MPG and gas at ~$4.00 a gallon, gas will be about $120-$150.

A cheap motel in Sacramento will be about $50 bucks a night. So $100 if you want to stay two nights there.

$70+150+$100 = $320 and then we'll split it evenly.

post if you want to go and private message me your phone number as well.

Let me know ASAP so I can get the best prices for the car and motel.

Why not just take a train to Davis?!

one way train only is already 92 bucks (13 hour trip). 60 bucks if you wanna take bus + train (6 hours). also doesn’t include motel.

double those prices to get round trip.

If you’re leaving early morning Friday, you’ll reach Davis when the event is already almost over.

what time does it start? couldn’t find any info on start time.

if that is the case, we can leave on thursday.

thanks chewey!

we’ll leave thursday evening then?

Damn I would be so down to go with you guys but school is preventing me. Have fun guys.

bump. one person has already pm’ed me.

we’ll probably be leaving home Saturday night.

why not just wait till the orientation? it’s better i suppose.

I’m assuming some people will want to visit UC Davis before submitting their SIR. I’ve never been to the campus myself.

NEW PLAN is to leave Thursday evening and come home Saturday evening arriving in LA at aroundw 12am.

new price will be $270 split evenly because we’ll leave Saturday evening. you down cosmic bubble?

whoops. price is still $320 since we’ll need a motel for thursday night now.

hmm i’m contemplating going now if its us 3 that would be around 107 dollars a person. I’ll get back to you on this. Where do you live btw?

I live in koreatown/silverlake. It’d be great if you can join us!

Better check if they will let an 18 year old rent a car without extra fees because you are not 25 years or older.
Check if the rental have a mileage limit for the 3 day weekend.
When you turn the car in ask an agent to do an inspection so you won’t be charged for dings they find later.
Worth getting the all clear.

@batlo

I have it all covered. $70 bucks total for a 3-day weekend rental. I have a coupon to waive the underage fee.

Cool I live in boyle heights l

So its like 12 min on the 101. I need to get a hold of the money first will tell you soon

Just a heads up, I’m from Pomona (SGV) and have taken the trip a few times…it will cost about 150-175 up and back. I’m in Berkeley now and gas here is around 4.39+/-

My car gets roughly 21/22mpg on the freeway.

anyone else would like to join us?
