Decision: UM or SBU?

Hi,

I'm a sophomore at a community college in the panhandle of Idaho, and was recently accepted to University of Miami and Stony Brook University for the spring 2015 semester. Which sounds better suited for me?

I'm a philosophy major on the pre-med track. I have well-rounded and varied interests (music, chinese studies, philosophy, chemistry, etc) and love discussion-based classes and hate big classes. I like being physically active, reading, and partying hard as well.

I don't have any preference for weather (I've dealt with both Miami hurricanes and Idaho winters).

Ultimately, what is better for academics?

Thanks.

money is not object?

@jkeil911 No, money wouldn’t be an issue. I’d be out of state for SBU so the difference wouldn’t be too significant, anyways.

Go to the U. It seems better suited for you and is overall a great school

We live in the town next to Stony Brook. For what you want and the social life, Miami is the clear choice. Son graduated Miami and went on to a top grad school. (Philosophy minor.) Good merit awards at Miami so it may be less than you think. Good luck to you!
