Good morning Mwall, just heads up on my D status, no email yet for me from UofD and D had called requesting appt. Wednesday and no call back yet. Doesn’t think it will make a difference, but like you said its worth a try and maybe at least they will let her know what was lacking…grades, essay, SAT ect. And ya never know Penn might offer her something better (although D already has her mind made up on Delaware) The problem is she has her mind made up to live on campus…if you start hearing about what OOS merit awards are and their stats please let me know, I know it should be alot more because it costs more, again just trying to understand…thanks Mwall

Squeal ! Our portal message changed to this. Yes, it had to have been overnight.
While our application deadline has now passed, we continue to read applications and mail decisions to students, like you, on a regular basis.

Look at the checklist on the right to ensure that your application is complete. Then, watch your mailbox for a decision soon. You can also double-check your status in the lower-right hand corner of the page. Best of luck!

Status did not change. It says applied.
This is exciting! Good luck, everyone!

The wait for Delaware has been excruciating!
Good luck to my son & all of the students waiting!

My status also changed to that, has this happened in past years?

I do not recall applicants in past years reporting this type of portal message change. It looks like Delaware’s version of “March Madness” is about to begin. Good luck to all.

Has everyone been getting this portal message change? If you received it did you apply to the Honors Program or for Regular Decision?

My daughter just applied for regular decision. She thought about applying to honors but was worried about it possibly being too much freshman year. She applied way back in early October.

Thanks NJMOM. The reason I asked this question is that it has been my perception from past years that once acceptances begin to be released that (based on the timing and number of UD CC posts) that Honor Program students seemed to be a higher preponderance in the first grouping of acceptances sent out (but certainly regular decisions were also included as well and some Honor Program students were notified later).

If your D is still interested in the Honors Program she can apply for admission to it in the future. This requires a 3.0 overall GPA minimum after 12 UD course credits. In her 2nd semester she would have to take two Honors courses (non-honors students can take Honors sections of courses if they have a 3.0 GPA and if spaces are available-spaces are frequently available-our D never had any problem getting into the courses), get at least a B in the courses, and get recommendations from the professiors in the courses. She could then apply for admission to the Honors Program in her sophomore year. So it can be done. Just thought I’d share this with you. Perhaps others as well might be interested. Good luck to your D.

My status changed as well! I applied for honors and got the 'very good news letter by both mail and email

Mwallenmd…thanks so much for the information! I will pass that on to my daughter. She has always taken honors/AP classes and I really wanted her to apply to the Honors College, but I think she was just nervous. She’s used to doing very well(likes getting A’s) and I think she just wanted to make sure that she didn’t get in over her head right off the bat…but it’s good to know that it is still available to her if she changes her mind about it.Thanks again!!

A brief correction to my previous post regarding applying to the Honors Program in subsequent years at UD. You have to have a UD overall GPA of 3.4 to apply, not 3.0. If you are a non-honors student you do need have a GPA of 3.0 in order to take Honors courses. Sorry

I am the mom of a current HS sophomore who will eventually apply to the UDel honors program. The web site strongly recommends the SAT2’s. Last year she took the bio SAT 2 and this year she will do chem and English. Did most of you take the SAT 2 for the honors program?

My son took and submitted 2 SAT 2 scores for the Honors College.

Yes, we received the likely e-mail, letter in the mail and change in portal status. My S applied to the Honors College.

Thx Tigerm!!

Last year DS didn’t have a portal change until the morning of the day he received his admission packet, March 13, and it was congratulations on the portal, his major and honors. The financial aid/scholarship info was dated March 7, and his admission letter was dated March 9. Since we live in NJ, I’m assuming it was mailed Monday, March 12. The only reason I knew to look was due to my good friends here on CC that posted about decisions! Good luck to all of you waiting, it’s an awful feeling not knowing exactly what date it’s going to be.

My DS submitted 2 SAT 2 scores for the honors program.

He has not found the honors classes to be difficult and really likes the fact that they are much smaller classes than the regular ones. One class had 7 students, two have had 22 students, and I think the other 2 had 15-20.

My status changed as well, not sure when as I haven’t been camping the portal. Applied non-honors, so we’ll see how this goes.

My D applied to the Honors Program and her portal now says "

Son’s portal page changed to the same. We are OOS. He did not apply for Honors. Dont know why it is taking them soooo long.

Just chatted with an admissions officer via the online chat on the university of delaware website and they said admissions decisions are being mailed out on Friday. This is the first batch and they are sent out randomly by the state that you live in. Hopefully we will all find out soon!!!
