We came, we saw, we liked, we chose...Elon Class of 2010!

i had the greatest time there! even though parts of it were kind of awkward and difficult to meet people because everyone was with their parents...it was still amazing.
i can't wait
feel free to have your D contact me on AIM, my screen name is gpberliner and i love to meet new people

I went to the Spring Orientation at Elon as well and LOVED IT! For those interested in Wake, I have two sisters who go there. I was accepted there but decided not to go because I want to do something different, and I don't like the extremely competitive academic atmosphere at Wake-there is a problem with students taking Aderall to cope with the ridiculous amounts of work. There IS a reason why it is known as "Work Forest." I think that Elon has SUCH a great balance of social life and academics. Additionally I agree that there aren't great relationships between the two races. Right now I am trying to decide between Elon and Santa Clara in California....

"there is a problem with students taking Aderall to cope with the ridiculous amounts of work."

Don't you think this might be making a bit of a sweeping generalization? I seriously doubt that there is a "problem" on wake's campus with people taking prescription meds to keep up with work. There are always outliers and I would not doubt that it happens... but I also wouldn't doubt that it happens at both Elon and Santa Clara...to make that statement is a bit irresponsible and painting with pretty broad strokes.

actually, an admissions department employee told me the same thing when i visited, down to using the same phrase that it is called "work forest"

Yes, Wake is well known as "Work Forest", but the Adderall thing....well I'll put it this way, the first time I heard of students using it to study was from a kid at Elon who would buy it (she always put her work off). Anyway, as observer28 said, don't label one school (s) these behaviors and actions can be found on most campuses I would think.

Considering that I have been at the Wake campus for the past five years, I have gotten to know the students and school QUITE well. Of course you are going to find that problem at any school, but I have been told by my very good friends that this is in fact, a problem. Not a problem with everyone, but a problem. Keep in mind, these observations have been made by the class that graduated last year, the senior class, and the junior class. It is more prevalent than at your average school, and I think that is important to note and keep in mind. P.S. I helped several students in their public speaking class to address the topic to their communications class, it is an issue.

P.S. It IS in fact, responsible to offer a piece of information that might be helpful to those interested in the school. It would be IRRESPONSIBLE to withhold information that might be an issue for some.
