Decisions, decisions

I have narrowed it down to Penn (CAS) and UM (LSA):
I was accepted into the Benjamin Franklin Scholars Program, as well as the Roy Vagelos Scholars in Life Sciences program at Penn. These and the $20,000/year in grants offered make Penn quite enticing, but still a heavy financial burden.

UM on the other hand, offered me over $10k/year (in-state LSA scholarship, as well as some other grants), and accepted me into both the Honors program and the Preferred Admissions pharmacy program.

I might major in biology or something on the pre-med track, but I'm more undecided right now.

Any thoughts, opinions, advice would be greatly appreciated!

any thoughts at all? Alexandre?

You sound bright enough to find your way to med school wherever you go. If money were not an issue, where would you prefer to go?

If money were not an issue...I think I would choose Penn. But of course, money is a very big issue; so I am wondering whether the opportunities offered at Penn (large pool of bright, talented students, Wharton, awesome programs likes BFS and BBB, prestige) are enough to balance out its cost--particularly since I can attend another top 25 university for a quarter of the price?

Go with the school you prefer. Remember, Penn is not more prestigious than Michigan. They have identical peer assessment scores and most people consider them to be peers. And yes, Penn has Wharton...but Michigan has Ross. Wharton is #1 and Ross is #3. Not that much of a difference there. Penn does have more talented students, but not by as much of a margin as you think and Michigan's top half are easily as talented and bright as Penn students.

Is it worth paying an extra $80,000 over 4 years to attend a university that isn't better? Only you can answer that. But if you intend to go to medical school some day, you may want to save as much money as possible! hehe
