You can predict if you got merit or not based on if you just got a financial aid e-mail. “The sooner you apply, the more quickly you will be notified of your financial aid eligibility upon admission to USC.”
uh so if u got it did u get merit or smtg?
It would appear so.
are you sure? I got the email but I am pretty sure it does not mean anything
The email is asking you to fill out the forms to determine financial aid eligibility. Not sure what that would have to do with if you are going to get merit money. What makes you think it might? TIA @Riversi
Why would they contact people that had been denied to fill out aid? The school is need blind.
I’m thinking everyone got that email.
I don’t think that means anything. It says “upon admission to USC”. Also, correct me if I’m wrong, the financial and admissions offices are completely separate.
I’ve gotten quite a few of those emails asking me to complete additional information. At the bottom, it says: “PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS: This notice is not an indication of an admission decision. Financial aid information is gathered and reviewed for all financial aid applicants, regardless of admission status.”
No info was leaked, those FA emails are sent every year. FA is separate from admissions - it really is! Let’s see, they’ve only been around since 1880, I am 100% confident that they know how to not leak a decision. But conspiracy theories abound every year.
and @Riversi, Financial aid is not the same as merit aid - two completely different types of aid. More than half USC students are full pay and don’t even apply/get FA, but they may or may not get merit aid. CSS and FAFSA deadlines are coming up, that is why they are sending these notifications.
^^^ Exactly. There are no hints. Nothing via financial aid is an indicator one way or the other in terms of admissions… either in January or March. I know it is hard, but try to be patient and find something else to distract you. The decisions will come when they do. And there is no way to discover that decision early.
Pretty sure the app deadline is…today! So that’s another clue that these notifications are not decisions. This is to make sure that if you are accepted, you receive a financial aid package in a timely manner. Wouldn’t want people to wait until a decision comes to send FA info. I received a letter about financial aid before I even got a request for Spring grades.
