Recieved E-Mail From Financial Aid...What Does This Mean?

So I got this e-mail from USC on 03/19.

Does that mean I may have a shot at acceptance? Would they ask for all that information if I was not being accepted?

It could mean you’re still in the running for acceptance. However at most colleges, the FA office is separate from the admissions office. I’m not 100% certain that’s the case at USC, but my bet is it probably is. I think the FA office will send every applicant who applied for aid notifications if they’re still missing documents. But I understand how you could make a correlation (“If they’re rejecting me, why would they bother getting the rest of my FA documents?”). In my honest opinion, I don’t think the letter means much regarding your admissions status. Nonetheless, don’t lose hope, and I know it’s hard but just be patient. You’ll know in at most 10 days!

Damn

I was hoping it meant I was in

well, did you get accepted?

Note: this thread was from the 2010 admission cycle. I am glad it was bumped, because it shows that correspondence from financial aid asking for documents does NOT indicate acceptance (but applicants assume it does every year).

The OP posted on the 2014 http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/854601-official-school-cinematic-arts-2014-applicants-results-94.html#post10079656</a> thread that he/she did not get good news from USC. The wonderful opportunity the OP chose was to attend Boston University.
