I agree, well organized and easy process. And my daughter and I are both in LOVE with the beautiful campus. What a gorgeous day, huh?? I want to be 18 again and go there. sigh The wait is going to be hard – and I’m not sure if I heard right, but is there another audition process for scholarships? The audition person told us that we would get a letter by mid-March. Eeeeeee!!! Exciting!!

Agree, campus is beautiful. Given that, location (Tacoma seems like a pretty neat small city, Seattle metro area outstanding), resources (pretty sizable endowment for a school its size), programs (breadth and depth impressive for a LAC), seemingly very engaged and happy students and faculty, it is surprising that UPS does not have more of a national reputation. Few on the East coast have even heard of it. At or near the top of my son’s list.

We also had a great experience. The faculty were there to answer questions which was very helpful. My son had been unsure about Tacoma but ended up liking what he saw. The weather sure didn’t hurt – what a beautiful day!

Also, I was told that they will have about 250 people audition for music scholarships and will give about 70. Good luck to all!

Has anyone heard anything yet? It looks like we should hear something tomorrow! Crossing fingers for good news!

I stayed up till midnight and Cascade says I’m accepted and I got enough financial aid to make UPS (almost) affordable! So the decisions are up right on time!

Son in with nice merit award.

My daughter got a no thank you from UPS. It was a stretch, so no surprise, but still disappointing for her. UofO, here she comes!

My son is also in with nice merit aid. Just waiting to hear from Lewis and Clark now. This waiting will soon be over. Let the deciding begin!

Swiwata–my son also waiting to hear from L&C. Hopefully will be in the next few days, I believe they got decisions out around this date last year.

Revision - DD misunderstood when she first read, she is wait listed, not declined. So there is hope yet.

We’re rooting for your daughter. Reading those postings in the middle of the night is tough. I read my son’s again this morning and saw more information than I was able to take in at 1 am.

Thanks swiwata – it is hard, my daughter opened and closed the website so quickly this morning, and apparently didn’t read thru the whole thing. She thought it was a denial, and it wasn’t until she looked at it again later in the morning that discovered it’s a waitlist decision, not a flat out rejection, with more information to follow in the mail. She is an independent gal, and will not share her password with her poor mom, who is DYING to log in and scour for more information. sigh

Congrats to your tuba playing son! And to everyone else who got good news today!!!

accepted!
I live in florida, and have not been to visit and don’t really know many people who know anything about this school… for those of you who have visited or lived nearby, what do you think of the school and atmosphere? I’m a little worried it might be a bit too small…

I woke up my daughter this morning and stuck her laptop in her face, demanding she sign on. Obsessed? Moi? Heh.

Anyway, accepted with $9K, not the best package but by far the lowest GPA to retain the scholarship money. This isn’t going to be any easy choice for her.

Accepted! Ahhh! I love this feeling :)

I was originally going to choose to wait for the package (I’m more traditional; prefer snail mail-often times more exciting!)…but I couldn’t resist and just logged on.

Not only was I accepted, I was offered the top merit scholarship (12k/yr), a leadership scholarship (3k/yr) and a music scholarship (7k/yr). I have no idea how or why I was offered so much; I’m absolutely blown away and eternally grateful. They also threw in a bunch of grants, so my total aid package is something like 45k/yr (excluding loans).

I must be the absolute happiest person on CC today. Good lord, this is so exciting. hahah. Sorry…no one is home and I just had to share my excitement with someone! Thank you God for UPS, and thank you (just this once) for having an uber low EFC!!!

Good luck to everyone else. And again, I live about 20 minutes from UPS, so if anyone has questions about the school/area, I’d be happy to answer them:)

Congrats mjh2010!!! That is FANTASTIC!!!

mjh, awesome package. Congratulations!

Wow, great package mjh2010! My son found out a friend also got in, so they are thinking of going up to take another look in a couple of weeks. They are both music guys so want to check out the music classes.

Got my acceptance with partial scholarship last night at midnight :)
