Wow - look what happens when I leave the office for a few days. Congrats to all of those who have heard and been accepted. It has been an extremely competitive year, so you should be proud.

I thought I would address some of the most common themes in this thread:

Financial aid letters, including merit based scholarships, are delivered via e-mail approximately one week after a decision letter is recieved. If you have questions regarding need-based or merit aid, my recommendation is to contact the admissions or financial aid office via telephone.

Decision letters are delivered in waves so as not to overwhelm Rochester’s postal services. If you have not recieved a letter yet, it does not by any means imply your denial. We simply can’t send thousands upon thousands of letters at the same time. All of my colleagues and I appreciate your patience! Hang in there!

We begin to recieve midyear reports this time of year and will continue to recieve them for the next month or so. Just send it as soon as it is available and your status will be updated once it has been processed.

As always, let me know if you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns via this thread or PM. Thanks!

McConklin, thanks for your informative posts. Can we safely (and regrettably) assume that if an applicant hasn’t received an admission decision from UR by now s/he is not in the running for the Renaissance scholarship interviews/opportunities?

Students invited to the Renaissance Interviewing Event should already have been notified, though there may be a few more invitations making their way through postal services.

I did the math, and it looks to me like 0.63% (approximately) of this year’s applicant pool has been invited to interview for the Renaissance scholarship. As you can see, it is quite competitive.

The waves of letters are not determined according to any specific formula. Students who have applied for special programs or are invited to the Renaissance event are sent decision letters early. Otherwise, it is not all too specific a process.

It was a big (8 1/2 by 11) envelope with “Welcome to Rochester” or something like that on the front. It was pretty obvious as soon as I saw the envelope that it was an acceptance.

airegin - I got the same emails! Although I’ve never done the IB programme so I think it could be a mistake, but 15K per year would still be nice.

Herungar: Are you sure that you can take only one scholarship? So if they accidentally sent everyone the email for the IB Scholarship does that mean that I got the other scholarship, but that I didn’t get the second one I qualified for because it wasn’t as much money as the first one, so they gave me that instead? Hopefully MConklin will be on here soon to clarify,
