Decisions

D2 and I visited this week and attended an admissions session. The AO said that it is mostly need aware for Intl students since they have relatively few resources for them. But for domestic admits, it’s as limner says, they try to be need blind with decisions and then take a look at their FA numbers and make sure they can reasonably accommodate that in their budget. If they can’t, they might have to make a few adjustments, but they really try to stay need blind as much as possible.

@catmom: I have yet to hear from Carleton either (in Colorado). I am planning on waiting until a bit later in the week to call. After all, the only “promise” made was that we would receive decisions by April 1st.

Plan on calling the Admissions Office if you haven’t heard by April 1st.

I know I’m late to this, but I just got back from Spring Break vacation, and on the top of our giant Hold Mail pile was the large Carleton envelope! Super exciting! Good luck to everyone else. I’m in CO btw, but I honestly don’t know when I actually received the envelope since I was gone all week.

Drought, thanks for that. I think that was an eloquent, well-articulated post that was pretty much spot-on, and I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself as much as I am!

To everyone else - congratulations to the new Carls! And I’m so sorry to those who didn’t get the news that they wanted. College admissions are super stressful, and I hope it looks up soon!

Also, to the internationals (and everyone else) - I don’t think when you get your letter is indicative of the admissions decision whatsoever.

Are all the decisions sent already? or r they still sending out mails? I am an intl girl and haven’t received any Fedex notification. will rejections be sent by snail mail or express?

I’m an international and I haven’t gotten it yet. I don’t think that necessarily means we’re rejected though.

Thanks all for counselling patience - the big envelope arrived today along with a nice letter to the parents under separate cover. D is going to be beyond thrilled when she gets home! But she’ll have a hard decision ahead as she was accepted into both her top choices – Vassar or Carleton? Nice problem to have, of course…

Waitlisted :frowning:
