Decisions

I got in as a WC scholar!!

Congratulations all who were accepted!! and best of luck to those waitlisted and those who are still awaiting a decision!!

btw, I am pretty sure chillout is a ■■■■■, seeing as they only have 1 post and I don’t think any real member of the Carleton community would act that way.

Got my acceptance packet in the mail today. 20 minutes later, accepted to Vassar. All that’s left for the day is George Washington U. So far I’ve gotten 7 aceptances out of 7 decisions. 10 left to go. Congrats everyone!!

Sent from my SPH-D700 using CC App

I got my acceptance packet this morning along with Haverford’s. Getting them together, I was almost in tears and couldn’t stand having to go to school. It was very surprising and overwhelming. I did not expect to get in since my interview did not go well at all. This is such a relief. Good luck to everyone!

I got in right as I got home from school!!! So great in the wake of rejections from CMC, Pomona, and Vassar!!! Also I find it hilarious that I got rejected from Mac and into Carleton.

Came home from 5 hours of sports preseason to an acceptance packet … that just made my day! I actually haven’t been out to visit yet - I interviewed locally (in Boston) - so I can’t wait for Accepted Students’ Day. Congrats to everyone who got in and good luck to those waitlisted!
As a random PS, I love the aesthetics of the admissions packet - it’s a matte navy blue folder with a big gold seal on the front. If anything could possibly improve an acceptance (unlikely), it’s a nice looking folder :)

Waitlisted at University of Chicago, Macalester, and now Carleton. Carleton’s waitlist letter was the nicest of the three, at least. =(

Waitlisted here too.
I’m actually surprised I even got waitlisted.

Waitlisted as well… maybe it’s a yield rate thing? I don’t want to diminish the incredible accomplishment of those accepted, since it’s such a great school and anybody would be lucky to go there. I just assumed there would be more accepted students on CC. I would certainly never consider Carleton a safety school; I liked it very, very much, in fact. Guess they just didn’t like me. :(

I did get good news from both Wesleyan and Hamilton today though, so that brightens my spirits a bit.

Accepted! I’m actually the first student to apply to Carleton in the past 5 years, so I’m quite pleased (not that I wouldn’t be anyway).

(SAT: 1420/2170 | SAT II: 770 Chemistry, 750 Lit, 720 Math I | 6 APs, 10 honors classes | GPA: 3.9 weighted)

Best of luck to those yet to hear, and my condolences to those who didn’t receive the response they had hoped for.

I was rejected, but I really appreciated their rejection letter. It was well-written.
Congrats all who got in!
To those who didn’t, life’s about rolling with the punches and making the best of it. You’ll end up where you belong.

AHH, accepted! Got that beautiful blue folder in the mail today.

Quick stats: 3.81 GPA UW, 2220 superscore SAT, 770 (Lit) + 680 (US History) SAT IIs, taking 5 APs senior year (but none previously), and from NJ.

I visited Carleton during my spring break of junior year and sort of fell in love. I’ve been lucky enough to get into some other very sweet schools, but on a personal level, Carleton has my heart. <3 Got the NHRP scholarship, too, so that helps!

My heartfelt congrats to everyone else who got in, and to those who didn’t – best of luck to you, and may you find a school that’s an even better match! :)

Accepted! Good news after 2 waitlists at WUSTL and CMC. 3.91 GPA and 34 ACT, dis not send SAT’s. Recruited athlete but I don’t think coach had a say in admissions.

I was waitlisted. Given my dismal stats, I know my essays are what kept me from a reject. I think I will put myself on their waitlist, but I think I’m going to be Denison '15. :)

Accepted! I am so surprised!

Last year, a 2350+ SAT, 4.0 GPA student from my school was waitlisted and then rejected, while I was accepted with a 3.6 GPA and a 2300 SAT. I know Carleton seems like a safety for strong students due to the 30%+ acceptance rate, but really, folks, it isn’t. And that’s not just cause I’m proud of my school.

To those accepted: check out new student days, even if you don’t think you want to go to Carleton… I applied to Carleton at the last second… during January it was like 9th on my list, and by the time decisions came out, it was 3rd or 2nd. I chose Carleton over a more prestigious Eastern LAC, and I haven’t regretted the decision for a second. Don’t let the “safety school” reputation (believe me, it does exist, it was prevalent at my ******y, preppy high school) deter you. It’s a great place.

Any idea when internationals can expect their decision letters?

I am an intl and haven’t yet received any information. Is this a bad sign? Especially since the courier lost my application and I had to sent my app on the 26th of February
I am probably rejected :frowning: . But I don’t blame them.

Congratulations to all who were accepted! And my condolences to those of you who didn’t get the news you wanted. I remember (my son is graduating from Carleton this year) how stressful a time this is.

Roderick, I’m sorry your son didn’t get better news. Carleton isn’t entirely need-blind, but my understanding is that they make the majority of admission decisions without regard to need. Then they look at the need of those they’ve accepted, tote up the finances, and then the final–maybe 10%–admissions are made being aware of just how much money the school has to support the remaining students. This is my general understanding of the process.

Carlerton wasn’t my son’s first choice, although it was high on his list. It has been the absolutely best school for him. It’s an amazing place.

No thick or thin envelope, no fedex tracking # – do you think my D should call the Admissions Office on Monday, or give it a few more days? We’re in the midwest - you’d think the mail would be fairly reliable all the way from Northfield :)
