Letter in the Mail!!

Oh hey there big white letter from CARLETON!!!

I live in MN and just got my letter today (10 min ago)! SO HAPPY!

Congratulations!

Huge cong!! I’m an international student and haven’t yet receive any letter… So anxious…anyway…congratulations!

I’m so happy for you! Congrats! Still anxiously waiting…

Congrats!! I got mine in the mail at around 3:00 today (I live in the Chicago suburbs) We’ll be classmates in the fall :D

Congrats! You have excellent taste.

Congratulations!!! I’m so happy for all of you getting good news from Carleton! Thank you for letting us know. We live on the East Coast, and no news here as yet.

FYI - all decision letters, regardless of their decision, went out at the same time. I know this personally. DO NOT panic if you get yours late, that is nothing but a reflection of the slowness of the US Postal Service. :)

To the OP and other new Carls - Congrats!!

Congrats AuroraBorealis! Would you mind posting your stats for those other worried seniors out there? Thanks!

Congratulations!!

Thanks y’all!! Good luck and I hope to see you all next fall:)

ps. sorry eperlman9, I personally don’t think it’s a good idea to post stats for all the internet to see!!haha… but you can message me for sure

If you don’t mind my asking, how exactly was the notice delivered? Did it come with the regular mail, or via a separate UPS delivery?

Boo hoo. Deferred!!!

I’m sorry, jenni.

I think there are a couple students on here who’ve worked in admissions. Question for them, on jenni’s behalf: Does admissions take into account that students continue to show Carleton love? Should jenni and others who really want to go to Carleton write letters or update their apps or in anyway express continued interest?

renthus, if you are in the US you should be watching for your decision in your regular US daily mail. If you are outside the US, for the most part decision envelopes are sent FedEx.

New York reporting in! Just got my letter in the mail, so pumped.

A big envelope from Carleton came in the mail for my DD today!! We’re so happy for her!! So the decision letters have arrived in New England (in our part of New England, anyway). Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear!

Reporting from Colorado: I found a beautiful, large, white envelope in my mail box today as well!! See you all September 10th!!

got my white envelope today in california!!!

I work in Admissions.

griffen, you’re wrong about international students. Only the ADMITTED int’l addresses get FedEx. Everyone else (defer and deny) gets standard national mail. They do not send out defer and deny letters by FedEx.

reesezpiecez103, you’re also wrong. Not all decisions go out at the same time. Sometimes admit packets go out first, sometimes the defer/waitlist and deny letters go out first. They try to get them all out at the same time, but even if they do, the USPS doesn’t always mail them at the same pace. The packets sometimes go faster (bigger = more important?) and the little letters sometimes go faster (littler = easier to zip through?) The letters/packets usually get picked up by campus post office on the same day but they don’t always, sometimes big mail goes first, or second. People who live closer will often hear faster, but not always. And, there are sometimes admitted/deferred/waitlisted/denied students whose decisions go out a day or so later than the whole group, for whatever reasons you can imagine. By the way, they do the stuffing of every decision by hand.

Within a few days they’ll open up the online applicant status page so that everyone can see their decisions online in case they haven’t gotten the mail yet.

They want everyone to know their decision by December 15, but there are never any other “it always happens this way” processes.
