Hey, does anyone know if they e-mail decisions from the Your Choice App? Or are they just snail mail? I'm going to be out of the country (leaving the 15th) and don't want to wait until mid-january for my decision! thanks!

I don't know. Call and ask.

snail mail, last year anyway....so you may just have to wait...is someone checking your mail? the envelope wll be obvious

Indeed. If you are in its a big thick envelope. If you are deferred or rejected its a thin envelope standard sized.

FWIW, my kid got in RD last year. We did not apply EA. We heard by email about a week before the package came.

So you got an email too?

I'll be able to check email while im away, but our postal mail is being held at the post office. I thought about calling and asking but I don't want to nag, but maybe I will.

Once decisions are already out, you can call. But I dont know if they will tell you over the phone. Some schools prohibit that. But if you explain your circumstance, perhaps they will. Another option is to let your neighbors collect your mail and then ask them. Tell them, "dont open it, just tell me if its a standard sized THIN envelope, or a thick larger envelope?"

I dont know if they do email for EA/ED. I know they did it for RD last year, at least for those who gave them an email address and for the CLEAR admits....not the last few stragglers and some of the commuter kids.

They had a huge waiting list last year, which stands to reason. But even though on a percentage basis they need improvement in their retention rate (kids who accept the offers of admission and attend), I heard they had very few kids admitted off of the wait list last year, as the numbers were just too high. I will say this, however, that Fordham does a very good job of admitting good kids. There simply aren't that many kids my daughter knows or sees hanging around who are troublemakers and mismatches. Perhaps that has something to do with how well they read your complete file and the teacher/counselor recommendations?

Its a great school and I hope you get in!

i agree with swansong. Im a freshman, i gotta say, im surprised by the caliber of the student body here. Most students really try to do well, and usually succeed.
I wish you guys luck on admissions. Its a great school. It's just sad that not that many know much about it.

I got a 2 small envelopes from the university of portland... one said i was accepted while the other said I received a scholarship... so don't go by that size of envelope, it is not 100% foolproof.

that being said I really hope i get into fordham =]

Interesting! Well, I guess you never know. I hope you get into Fordham as well. What are your stats? I am curious as you got a scholarship at UPortland.

are decisions posted online anywhere? or only mailed

lets see... i have about a 3.4 GPA UW 27 ACT comp and an 1860 (1220 CR+M) I am a URM (hispanic) and i have leadership and ECs etc... nothing really outside the norm. I think my essays were good (but doesn't everybody say that?) my "hook" so to speak is that i lived in France for 4 years (1st-4th grade and i speak english and french and spanish fluently... I used the same essay for both Fordham and U of P so I'm crossing my fingers! I'm also Catholic from CA if that changes anything.

once again, are decisions posted online or emailed, or ONLY mailed
and if only mailed, when do people usually receive them

It sounds like EA decisions are being mailed this week. I have not heard yet of anyone hearing by email. We heard by email last year but that was for RD (we did not apply EA.)
