Decisions

hey jg , why do u find my math assumptions confusing ?

seems like quite a number of people here didn’t get good financial aid packages? that’s a bit disappointing as i’m thinking of applying :frowning:
Btw is the financial aid supposed to cover the whole cost of attendance? (including flights, personal expenses etc.)

Hi lilita! Tuition, room&board, student activities fees = $ 52,036 + health insurance (I’m assuming this is mandatory for internationals?) of $ 1,630 = $ 53,666.
Total fees of $ 53,666 - $ 41,000 in your financial aid package = $12,660 outstanding balance.

hey jg0339 ! so it will be perfect if it was 12 660 $, but I read on this thread that some people say it is 56 000 $ so that’s why I was totally confused

Hi lilita; well, there will be additional expenses such as books, travel and extras. In any case, if you do have questions, you should contact the school’s financial aid office directly, maybe email/skype for internationals. They’ll be able to give you much more specific guidance than our rough estimates here. good luck

I got a pretty decent financial aid package. It’s not as good as the one another school is offering me, but I really like Mt. Holyoke so I might just step up and take on the loans.

Seriously considering loans here too… not only for Moho. Is it worth? I mean, I can attend any U back in my country, but I really love a Liberal Arts education. Worrying about debts though… what if I cant get a decent job that pay much and fast…?

My younger D was accepted as a transfer student for the fall!

Hey, I got wait listed and I was just wondering whether or not anyone knows how large the wait lists really are…? MHC isn’t a large school so I was wondering whether it’s hundreds of students on the wait list or less than that?

did MH post transfer student decisions?

My daughter got a revised FA letter today…they said it was based on the actual tax forms, not estimated. I know I had the same numbers on both for income, but they gave 4,000 more in grant money. I’m pleased even if I don’t understand it.

The most recent numbers are for 2006. 203 students were on the wait-list

Debruns, can you tell me if you asked for your daughter’s FA package to be reviewed or did they do it by themselves cause I may need an additional 4000$ in grants or loans. should I call them and explain them my situation cause my parents still have to pay for my sister’s expenses , she is still studying.
Yours sincerely !

I didn’t call although I had planned too if other packages were not so great either. I couldn’t understand how they initially just gave her a grant of 480.00 with the scholarship, it didn’t meet need closely at all. It’s still the higher end of the EFC, not the fafsa number, but better. They said it was a revision because of tax forms, which I didn’t understand, but he bottom line is they added it. I couldn’t get on their site last night, my daughter tried until 10pm but the financial aid portal was down.
They gave her less loans than Bryn Mawr or the total amount for us to pay would have been lower. Bryn Mawr gave 7500 with 2 staffords and a perkins loan. I might call them and see if they can replace the perkins with a grant…probably not, but it can’t hurt.

vannecriss - I’m a transfer, and I got my decision on Friday (accepted, whoo!). I believe it said that if you applied by March 1st, they were available.

^ yeah i got my decision too on 26/3 except my file was incomplete. boooo! I’mma march down to my ex-college’s office and get them faxed over ASAP.

congrats citoyenne!! heard from SMith yet?

Citoyenne! I applied on Feb 24th! :frowning: However, I called and they told me I will getting the decision on Friday, This Feriday!!! because I’m also an international student! (I can’t wait!!!

We’ll be getting Smith on April 1st, I just called,… (transfer students) Although I don’t think I will get accepted to Smith… :frowning: I made a HUGE mistake on my application

I just got a call from Smith! I got accepted!

Jamapelle - Oh, yikes! That’s kind of ridiculous that your college hasn’t sent the proper forms yet. Then again, I had to hassle my adviser for a week and a half before she finally sent my stuff, so…I believe it. Annoying bureaucracy!

And thank you! Yes, I heard from Smith today. Accepted. :)
