Decker School of Nursing: Bad?

Hi everyone. I was recently accepted into the Decker School of Nursing here at Binghamton. I was so happy that I got accepted and I pretty much made up my mind to go there as Binghamton is a top public school in the US and the nursing program is pretty selective. My problem is that when I went to look up the NCLEX passing rates for DSON, I was shocked to find that the rates are pretty low! The passing rate for 2011-2012 at Binghamton was 79.1%! Is there something wrong with the program and is it worth going there. Rutgers Newark has a better passing rate of 86.32%! Someone PLEASE HELP because this is a very important decision to make and I am very confused. Anyone that attended the program or currently attends it, PLEASE REPLY. I REALLY need your help. Thanks everyone!

Unfortunately I don’t know anyone in Decker, but Google is telling me that the passing rate for NY averaged 82.7% So Binghamton, at 79.1%, is not awful. I wouldn’t say we are known far and wide for our nursing school but I do know people who are really trying to get into the program and if you love it here I think you’ll be fine.

Thanks Rebeccar. I honestly really like Binghamton and so I am really hoping that the program is going to work out well. Do you attend Binghamton and do you have Any friends in the program?

Yes I do go here, but I’m in Harpur. I know of one person in Decker. She’s in the scholars program as well, and seems to be doing fine. I do have a friend who is in Harpur and is trying to transfer into Decker but it’s not guaranteed, which is turning out to be pretty nervewracking for her. I have another friend who is doing the BAT program and is doing fine.

I’ve met the Decker administrators and they are really awesome people. You should contact them and ask. They will help you out.

Congrats on the acceptance! It’s a great program.
