Declaring a major

Are there a decent amount of kids who don't know what they want to major in coming into Cornell? I feel like everyyyyone I talk to knows what they want to major in and I have absolutely no idea what I want to be, and its scaring me. Is it really okay to be undecided until sophomore year?

i dunno what i want to major in. i love english but i wonder if i would want to simply major in english. i might look into a double major but in what subject i'm unsure. i'm also looking into the alternatives--the dean's scholar stuff and the other one, i forget.

Yea.. I'm interested in English too but I don't want to be like a teacher or anything and I don't know what career I would want to go into. Whats the dean's scholar stuff?

i meant college scholar

Its too early for me to know what I want to do with the rest of my life. I'm only 17 yrs old! How do so many people know already.

they're freaks. just keep your distance.

my bad, i did mean dean's scholar:

many students have no idea...most of those have at least some idea by the end of first semester. Don't worry, I came in clueless (partly because i want to study so much) as to my major and am leaving first semester with two :D unofficially. technically you don't have an official major until the end of 4th semester, (2nd semester for enginerds)

enginerds. ha. i agree, it's weird to think we should have any idea what we want to do yet. i'm tentatively settled on religious studies, but so much can happen in 2 years. i'm sure no one really knows for sure.

aright thats good, I'm not alone.

Whens the earliest you can transfer to a different college and do you have to know your major in order to transfer.

you can transfer to another college after 1 semester. However, because of the freedom in course selection, you can take the classes in the other college and transfer not having lost any ground. You will have an easier time transferring if you know our major, but as long as your goals match the college I don't think it's necessary.

can you switch engineering majors within the engineering school during the second year or not?
