I got accepted into Miami of Ohio but decided to go elsewhere. However, when I went to the website to indicate that I would not be attending, unlike other colleges I have replied to, there was nowhere for me to indicate I am declining admission, only to accept my admission. Where do I do this online?
You need not do anything. If you don’t commit by May 1, they know. Doing it early won’t matter. Frankly, I’d wait anyway bc you never know.
You probably have to write an email to the admissions department letting them know that you are declining their acceptance. A short email with a thank you statement will probably do. It seems like a lot of people from around here are declining Miami as well. For many it comes down to financials.
When my D tried to decline an offer 2 years ago, she was in the same situation. No place on line to decline so she sent an email. They kept contacting her, asking her to send in her deposit so she sent a few more emails. Eventually, they stopped pestering her.
“pestering” LOL!!! Miami is relentless when it comes to marketing.which can come across as “love to be wanted” or “enough is enough”
Last year my dd sent an email to admissions and also to the contact at the business school who had made several connections and had been in touch (she was a direct admit) declining her offer. She shared how much she liked the school but in the end she was headed in a different direction. I agree that the contacts continued for quite some time - lots of emails, mailings, phone calls offering her the chance to change her mind, inquiring about her plans, etc… It made it hard and ended up souring her to the school after really liking it (kind of like a bad break up).
