I was accepted but unfortunately cannot attend next year. What needs to be done to decline my acceptance?

You don't enroll.

You big fat packet contained a letter with a check box for declining enrollment. I don't know if there is any way to do it online.

you can do it online...just need to tell them where you are going instead.

fill in personal info and the bottom portion...

May I ask why you decided to decline CMU and where are you going instead?

I am surprised that CMU has the "decline" online form so open (without a login/password). Some envious person could easily fill in someone's details and decline CMU. Would cause utter confusion in the CMU database.

^^^ That's true. I declined using that online form but all it requires is just the basic information of one person.

I'm going to Cooper Union...can't afford CMU...

How do you decline the waitlist offer?

They should have sent you a confirmation e-mail, asking you if you do indeed want to remain on the list. I got mine today, and decided to turn it down. They give you directions on how to do it

When I click that link posted above, it just takes me to a page that says "Fall 2008 Enrollment Reply Form

Thanks for a great admission season! Good luck to all in your future educational endeavors. The Carnegie Mellon Office of Admission." but there's no option to actually fill anything out. How do I decline my offer? Any help would be appreciated...

If you are particular to let them know that you are declining, all schools send a "withdraw" card or their accept card has a checkbox to mark you are declining. You can postal mail that in if you are particular.

It is not necessary to mail that in. I am not sure if it will help them update their database to process their waitlists earlier. Otherwise they would be waiting for another 2 weeks to porcess waitlists (in case you mailed your acceptance on May 1)
