Is anyone familiar with this? I got an e-mail saying that I am a finalist for an interview for the Dedman Scholarship. Supposedly there are 17 finalists and 7 will be chosen for the scholarship ($10,000 per year in the COLA)

I looked it up on the internet and it said that 700 apply each year, 12 to 15 finalists are chosen for an interview, and 5 to 8 are chosen for the scholarship and they move on to great graduate schools, medical schools, and law schools.

I don't remember applying for this? Is this one of those scholarships we applied for using the scholarship application? Because it doesn't show up on my scholarship app...

Wow it sounds prestigious...now I'm a little scared haha

did u apply for liberal arts honors? it seemed like only ppl who applied to that college can qualify

Yeah I made it into Liberal Arts Honors and Plan II. I think it's for people who are in LAH or Plan II mostly, but you just have to be a member of the liberal arts college it seems.

Because if you go on the UT website, it says how a couple of years ago 1 out of the 6 was from LAH and 5 out of 6 were from Plan II.

Have you heard of it before?

no i haven't but gj by the way. It seems like you're getting all these scholarships! I just got accepted into plan II last saturday but no scholarships from dean scholar or plan II (do we have to apply or are we automatically considered for both programs) :-(

all i could find was this:

http://www.utexas.edu/cola/progs/plan2/applicants/financial_aid/

haha thanks!

I think when you apply using that scholarship application we all filled out by Dec 1, it automatically considers you for the departmental scholarships for the departments you are accepted into. But I heard that besides engineering, most departmental scholarships come out later (April, I think?) so hopefully you'll get a few!!! :]

dedman scholarship is hella competitive/prestigious. serious congratulations on that one. prepare for your interview, the other candidates are bound to be amazing.

hehe yeah thanks. Getting kinda curious about the other kids though.
I'm usually good at interviews, so hopefully this won't be an exception.
