Deerfield with low ssat score

Hi Im new and was wondering what my chances were for deerfield. Im applying as a sophomore and have at least an A in every subject. I just got my ssat scores back and was sad to see I only scored in the 73% overall :(. I got a 70% Verbal, 77%reading, and 69% math with a total of 2139 points. I am also a full financial aid student and cannot afford to take the ssat again.

… URM would help, extracurriculars, sports…

There’s not much information to go on.

I am a urm? I was adopted from China? I take ceramics and drawing classes and a chorus class. In the upper school choral concert ensemble. I played varsity soccer this year and am play basketball and doing dance team. I am on the JV BASKETBALL TEAM AND the JV Dance team. I do ballet outside of school and I read/ cook in my free time. I am interested in tennis too and I volunteer at an animal shelter once a week. Right now I am at a private day school in Vermont. I live in southern vt which is urm statewise. I also need 90+% financial aid. I got glowing recommendations and I thought my essay was pretty good. My grade are are 93+ in all classes

I didn’t say that you were URM, I said it would help. Chinese are overrepresented, as are SK’s. Your sports look fantastic, but the FA kind of hurts.

Your grades and SSAT have a kind of big differential. That could imply a grade inflation.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up but your ssat score will not help you at all.

You may very well be the kind of kid they want in their student body. The kind of kid who could benefit from the life changing opportunity of attending boarding school. Chinese adopted by an american family puts you in a special category. This could be life changing for you so I wish you well. They certainly have enough rich qualified applicants who will be fine wherever they go. Good Luck.
