Defering for a year

Hello, I am a neophyte in regards to this board. I have a question for anyone that can answer it, please!

I have told every college that I am defering for a year if admitted because I was elected by Rotary International to be a Youth Exchange Leader in Finland for a year. Every school I applied to allows deferments. In each application I stressed this honor, it is one of my hooks. Can anyone conjecture as to what the admissions will think and how they will respond to this? What will happen with any scholarships I am awarded? I have applied to:
Brown, USC, Georgetown, Occidental, Franklin College Switzerland (admitted), and USD.

Also, does anyone have any information on Franklin College Switzerland? They are offering me some money to come, but I have been unable to find its rank as a school. Thank you all.

Sirwatson, congratulations on the Rotary program. I think that is quite an honor. Many schools will defer an admitted student for 1 year, for valid reasons; people who I know have done this, wait to receive an acceptance letter first, and then ask for the deferral, but they will appreciate your honesty, plus, you used it as a hook; since the program is super-selective, it should work it your favor.
You should try posting your thread on the Parents Forum also.

I think you made a good choice. Anyways, Franklin SEEMS awesome, but it's probably a bad sign that neither of us could find rankings and such for it.
