Anyone know the likelihood of deffered applicants getting accepted in the regular pool? Also, what can one do to appear stronger/stand out in the regular pool?? Ahhh i'm so disappointed right now =(

Can we make this the official deffered thread?
I got deffered from the Hotel School, and I really need to know if the school deffers a lot or not because I'm going to be sending in my first senior semester grades, one extra teacher recommendation, and a letter from both my counselor and myself.
But I really want to know if it is actually something significant and worth the effort, as having done all the extra work it would be extremely embarassing to hope so much and not get in.
By the way there were a total of 3 EDers for Cornell in the International School Bangkok in Thailand, and 2 of them got into CAS and engineering. I'm the 3rd that got deffered....so dissapointed but happy for both of them because we had the same anticipation and fear of not getting in period, ^^
Please i think people who were deffered would appreciate any advice from those who were previously deffered and accepted to Cornell
Are there any stats to show how many were deffered per school and possible their acceptance rate (I already saw the "Uncle Ezra" thing about an average of 15~25% of deffered students getting in through RD, but it definitely will be a differnet number for the hotel school and would really like to know it college specifically.)

I got deffered from Hotel

aw man guys, i'm sry...post on the other thread though, i thought that every single person got in. deferrded is fine. i was deferred. you still have a good chance!!! just keep showing interest.

Sorry, can't spend too long posting.. For anyone who wants or cares to know, Hotel deffered most applicants this year. Almost everyone I still talk to from the Summer College program @ Hotel school got deffered, with only female LTMC kids getting accepted. This is probably normal though and do not be to upset by it... I know i'm not!

ach44 you got deferred from hotel? i've sort of been reading some threads when i get the time, and figured you were one of the shoe ins. I don't know if i replied to any of them though because I'm always in and out.

your stats actually worried me about getting in to the Hotel School because I didn't have all the hotel work and didn't think that i showed as much passion as you clearly have. I got in (which I'm very very very happy about), but am definetely surprised about your result. do you have any thoughts as to why you may have been deferred?

yes deferred from hotel here too...

its looks as if SHA deferred almost everyone...nobody has posted results in the decision thread...and that generally isn't a good sign

i got in, just sort lazy to post the stats. I'm going to do a shorthand one right now actualy

okae.. this is my first time posting.

but if you got deferred for hotel, do you have to do anything else? like submit more information and things or do you just wait until spring?

thanks

I'm still confused, are we as defered applicants more weightlisted or should we have hope?, Are there more people deffered than rejected? Aren't there any specific indicators or numbers of deferred students and the percentage who got in on RD, college specifically? (HOTEL!!)
Senior 1st semester grades are really good, getting an extra really good rec from my economics teacher, going to be taking Job and Oriental Hotel in Thailand Bangkok or some 4 star hotel really packed in Pattaya (Beach city), and sending letters from both my counselor and myself.
Please does anybody know how much of a chance we have in SHA?

I applyed to the Hotel School and was deferred. I was surprised, but actually relieved that it was not a decline. I think the only thing holding me back are my SATs scores. Everything else was above average for the school. Do you think their is anyhting i should do, or just wiat it out. I work in a 4 diamond hotel, excellent GPA, and have a strong passion for the industry. Everyone i have spoken to have either been deferred or rejected. Is this a usual thing for the SHA?

Congrats to all that did get accepted, maybe i will see you in the fall, i will let you know in the Spring.

Did ANYONE get deferred from Engineering???
Cornell was really ugly this year in admissions rejected instead of deferring

I got deffered too. I don't think the hotel school will accept me RD because my stats and essays aren't that good, so I've decided to move on. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. :(

for hotel deferals, i heard that they cut down the ED acceptance number by almost half.. SO YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE!

also, definitly get another hotel internship or job in the hospitality industryto let them know you are still interested

deferred as well :(

deferred from cals bioloical sciences.

does anyone know exactly how much midterm grades matter?

you all still have a chance, i hope to see some of you next year at the hotel school!

snappleyum, where did you hear that they accepted less people this year?

deferred from engineering

i am surprised, there was a guy more qualified than me from a different high school close by and he got REJECTED

deferred from CAS =( i think schools are tryin to get rid of ED but slowly, easing into it so thats why theres so many deferrals... or not. lol tryin to justify this whole thing thats all. so anyone, suggestions on how to better an application in the RD round?

i just logged into my selfservice one more time, to see my deferral again and get some motivation to start working on other apps....

but its gone. the deferral letter's gone and its back to how it was before 5 yesterday...weird. are they already reevaluating / evaluating regular decisions? or have i just caught a glimpse of false hope?
