Hey! along with many other people, I was disappointed after I found out I was deferred since Tech is my number one choice. I guess 34 ACT, 10+ AP with Distance Calc through GT, and many extra curriculars weren’t good enough.
I saw a post somewhere you can call the admissions office, and sometimes they’ll tell you why you were deferred / rejected. Is this true? If so, do I just call the number on GaTech’s admission’s page? I don’t want to complain or anything. I just want to find out what my weaknesses were and see how I can improve my chances for regular decision.
Anyways, good luck deferrals and regular people!
And congratulations to people who were accepted!
I called my admissions rep and she said gave the normal, blunt answer:
You are competitive for Tech, which is why we have deferred you and not denied you! We will compare you to RD ppl and determine your decision…
You can call 404-894-4154 to reach the undergrad adm office…they will transfer your call to your counselor.
@ycollege123 yes, I am in state. I left my GT counselor a voicemail, but she actually responded through an email saying to submit the deferral supplement form to be considered for regular decision… I guess I’ll find out in March.
Our son was deferred to RD. Texas resident, top 3.5% out of ~975, 3.95 UW gpa, 34 ACT, 2310 SAT single sitting, ECs, leadership positions, hospital volunteer, … We did not visit GT campus and wonder if that made a difference.
