Deferral - Sending 1st Semester Grades

I was deferred today. I am disappointed, but I know it is due to my GPA. It says that “it is not necessary to send in any additional materials, including senior grades”. Does not necessary=optional? My grades from 1st semester are far better than usual and I would like to send them to the U, and also express my interest and UMN being my first choice school. Is it possible/warranted to do so? Or would it be annoying for the admissions committee?

Personally, I don’t see how it would hurt to send in that information. Worst case is they ignore it. I don’t see how it would be a negative.

The Minnesota language is different than UIUC for deferred. UIUC says this: “We will not consider 7th semester grades or letters of recommendation.”

Good Luck!!!

I sent my 1st semester GPA about 2 weeks ago now and was just deferred today, but it did show the second transcript on my app tracker, so I think they considered it so it can’t hurt

Did you send your 1st semester grade by email or mail them?

@anxiousapp1 Thanks for the feedback! Did you send those grades through your school by mail? Or did you email them?

Send in all updates via your school’s or district’s system - whether that be Naviance or Parchment or whatever. They can’t use current transcripts that aren’t official.

I used Parchment since that is what my school uses @radkm19 @Merapi42A
