I am planning to send supplemental things this month. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions as to whether I should write an essay discussing my new awards/events or describe them in a bulleted, short resume style format?

In addition to this, should I restate my interest in MIT in another essay?

"In addition to this, should I restate my interest in MIT in another essay?"

The fact that you are pursuing your deferral with supplements will show that you are very interested in MIT. Instead write essays on how you got involved into your further activities and how you developed/learnt out of them.

Basically dont just tell them again how much you want to go there but show them how you developed and give them a better reason to accept you.

I was wondering whether to do that. Actually, I was thinking of including a letter on how I have adapted in moving from the US to Bangalore, India (the only explanation was in a teacher recommendation). But after writing the essay, I was convinced out of sending it by my parents who think I shouldn't burden them with more material. I only sent a major change request and explanation. I still wonder whether I should have sent the additional essay. Then again, my parents do have a valid point....

I would recommend sending anything additional only if it conveys some distinct aspect that wasn't sufficiently explained in the application.
