So many deferrals for such strong applicants, hard to say why some got in and other didn’t. Theories? I can kinda see why i got deferred, 29 ACT 96.6066 GPA, but a lot of people with 31+ got deferred or 2050+ on SAT with good GPAs and according to them, good ECs, essays, and LORs!
There’s more to the application than GPA and test scores, and we can’t objectively judge the quality of the essays, letters of recommendation, and schools that all the applicants attended. Their own assessments (like “killer LoRs”) are really meaningless. Northeastern also defers a lot of people EA every year and later accepts many of them.
Also to note:
Even though stats are not everything, 31/2050 are on the lower end of the middle 50%: with a whole round of probably 25k applications coming in for RD, They usually only look to select the top of the class and the like in ED/EA, even if they would gladly have you for RD, they need to see the full pool.
