Deferrals: help end speculation

In an effort to help/support our fellow applicants through this monumental week with something other than cutting, derisive comments about their "insane" speculations, let's do this test, and thereby restore balance to both the giddy optimists and the suffering pessimists among us.

It is now an established fact that there are 2 paths for applicants who click on the admitted student site(see MzLovers' thread, "speculation galore"). Some are told they have no access to the decision site. Others log on successfully to the decision site. I personally suspect that the only ones getting the "log in successful" are the deferred people from EA, simply because they have, in fact, logged on succesfully to that site previously (December). We can confirm that with a reasonable degree of confidence if all you other deferees try it. Do all you deferees get this sequence?:
--click on admitted students
--enter your info
--get "log in successful"
--get diverted to error message telling you to come back 4/1

If all deferees get this sequence, then we can reasoably end the speculation.
It would also be helpful to know how "likely letter" people get sent through the electronic jungle.

Oh goodness...

I promise you - it's in your best interest to find something better to do with your time until Thursday. You're going to make yourself crazy until then if you keep this up.

Question - What is the Account ID? Was this on another one of those pesky letters, or is it the email address?

Hahahahaha, trust me, nobody will find out their decisions until March 31. You're wasting your time doing this :)

"Goodness", Lindsey, who are you to judge how people cope/don't cope??? Kids on the Harvard EA board discovered precisely this kind of thing, btw, and it is not unreasonable for people like MzLover at al to have the same inclinations. The purpose in this thread was to systematically confirm/deny the reasonableness of people's suspicions as a means of eliminating needless optimism or pessimism essimism. "Thinking outside the box"is indeed how many people deal with uncertainty. Who are you to condemn them? If not interested in this, keep your condescention to yourself and read elsewhere. (Talk about better things to do: 1358 posts on cc??!!!)

Oh please. I wasn't judging or condemning anyone.

(Talk about judging: The majority of my posts were accumulated while I spent 3.5 months on bedrest.)

I understand what it feels like to be incredibly anxious while waiting for decisions. I was in your boat in December and my anxiety got out of control, to the point of being very unhealthy. I'm seeing a lot of that in these 'suspicions' as well. Like athlon said, you guys are wasting your time doing this. I know its hard to wait. And I know anxiety can get the best of you. But seriously, its in your own best interest to find some way to relax as much as possible until Thursday, when you should all find out your decisions a day earlier than Yale officially is reporting.

Lindsey is right, you guys.

WOW. CALM DOWN. (and spell 'condescension' right, while you're at it...)

"I personally suspect that the only ones getting the "log in successful" are the deferred people from EA, simply because they have, in fact, logged on succesfully to that site previously (December)."

Can we just stop this nonsense completely. I get "Log in successful". I'm a RD candidate. The only people who don't get "Log in successful" are the people who havn't created their account using the information sent to them in the post by Yale, or those who mistyped their info.

Nick, not true. See the speculation thread.

Yes, this happens to me as an EA deferree.

Yes, Vivaldi, thanks for the correction. Even a 780 verbal can have typos. There is no "right" or "wrong"...get off this thread if you are aggravated by it. Go cope as you wish and stop passing judgment.

All I was saying is to calm down. There was no reason for you to attack Lindsey like that. And the spelling correction was a joke - I imagine any Yale applicant would be just fine when it comes to spelling.

Lindsey is "right" in the sense that adding to the speculation in any way will only increase tension.

Wow, wow. Chill. Lindsey's one of the nicest posters around.

I tried setting up my account just now and it won't let me!!!!!!!!!! I'm using the correct pin number that they sent me in the mil on the blue paper, and I'm sure I have my b-day right. What's going on?????????????????

darn it.....can't we alllll just hold e-hands...get along......lala...we're going around the world just lala lala la

viogirl- this happened to me too. It gave me a message that either my pin number was incorrect or my birthday.. turns out I've filled it out before and already activated my account a long time ago.. maybe you did the same and forgot?
