Barnard has been my number one for a long time, and I just got deferred today… While this is somewhat disappointing, I am still very interested in Barnard and want to maximize my chances of getting in regular. Do any of you have any tips for how I should go about doing this? Also, I’d love to know who got in/deferred ED.
Same situation here, but I am an international student! I also wonder numbers of people who got deferred. I saw you and another girl in Barnard Class of '20 Discussion. Do you know anyone else?
@myeahh Online is says that “Applicants deferred to our Regular Decision process typically represent 1/5 - 1/6 of our early pool,” so that should give you a pretty good sense for how many were deferred. I don’t know anyone else personally though.
At my high school, one of our very best students was deferred, and then wait listed, at Barnard and virtually every other Ivy and top tier school. Lesser mortals like me were admitted. She wrote a very sincere letter and also had our guidance counsellor write. She was admitted in June. Same happened to a friend who wanted to go to Chicago. So this is your chance to really demonstrate your interest. And be certain to bring anything new to their attention.
