Deferred - "7th Semester Grades" Required??

I got my deferral letter today in the mail, and I have the "good" one that other threads elaborate on...

But my question is, are the "7th Semester Grades" required for those who got the "good" deferral letter??

I ask this because the "bad" letter specifically states that 7th semester grades are needed for further evaluation of the application while the "good" letter states that I am in a select group and seems to be a bit more nimble about sending in grades, but states to include my UMID number on ALL SUBMITTED MATERIALS (so does that mean I can send in another letter of appeal from a teacher or something??). I have a science teacher that has worked at UofM Medical School for 8-10 years so I wonder if I can send in a letter on her behalf

I really hesitate to send in my 7th semester grades since my AP Language teacher specifically told my class to NOT WORRY ABOUT GRADES. She also said upfront that she's only given 3 A's in her past 14 years of teaching that class...Other than that my sciences are decent (4 on AP Bio last year) and I applied for Biology major in LSA.

All speculation and help appreciated!! THANKS :D

ya, thats what i m worried about too, i got a deferral letter like 2 days ago and i m still thinking whether or not i should send in my 7th semester’s grade because i WILL NOT look good since i took like 5APs and 3 hardest english courses since english is my 2nd language lol

From what i can see, just send them if they are good and if UofM wants them.

Your AP language teacher sounds like a *****…

So, how is them not asking for 7th semester grades good? If they’re gonna ask for your 7th semester grades they’re actually considering you, if they don’t that means the only reason they didn’t reject you is because they don’t reject ED, and that no matter what you got 7th semester you’re not getting in. Alteast that’s how I see it.

^ Well then what’s all this about? “good” and “bad” deferral letter. I have the one that ladygaga19 has on this thread

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-michigan-ann-arbor/831519-good-bad-deferral-letter.html

& yeah she is what your first sentence says QwertyKey…lol

I’m just speculating, but from what I’ve read on the forum the letter that I have that talks about being in a select group and sending in grades to “enhance” your application is basically saying they know your grades and scores are good enough and show you can do the work but they’re not sure if they want to offer you a spot yet because they dont know who the other applicants will be. So with that said, our admissions results depend on what the regular applicant pool looks like and how many EA admits recind their admittance because of ED acceptances.

Of course, I WOULD want to believe this because I received that letter…

^ haha yeah I concur, just pray n’ hope that’s the way it is!

Firstly GoBlue I believe you got the GOOD deferral letter (so did I)

Secondly Ladygaga19 is exactly correct I think. They’re going to want to see how the RD’s pan out and then review those who got differed especially those with the “good” deferral letter.

As a sidenote I dont think I’ll be sending my trimester grades in hahaha

AP Envi Sci: C (teacher is insane)
Eng H: B-
Calculus: B
Spanish III: B
Philosophy & Religion: A (required at my school)

^ Haha thanks for the input ckl22; your AP Envi Sci teacher sounds like my AP Lang teacher…it’s just not fair for teachers like that to be teaching a Senior Level class where grades are so significant when it comes to college acceptances [ when the person who applied was borderline to begin with :-/ ]

bump bump
