Tell me what you guys think. I was suggested to apply to colleges of these levels because of my overall profile which looks great (school grades, recommendations etc).

I think you have a fair chance! Many schools look at gpa over SATs because they know not everyone is a great test taker. Your scores arent too bad to be honest. The California schools will probably look at your test scores more though. But overall you seem to be a great applicant!

What do you mean “I know”??? Your SAT score is in the 94th percentile of almost 1.5 million people who took that test, there’s nothing “I know” about that. Seriously, come back down to reality.

I think you have a good shot at most of these colleges, except for maybe Pomona, which is hard for really anyone to get in and Cornell, which is unpredictable. Your SAT is FINE and your GPA is good. I just hope you omitted the self-absorbed ego from the college essays that you chose to include in this thread.

Thanks for your opinions
I’m not self-absorbed, just nervous and paranoid because of my deferral and I think it had to do with my test scores, which are low-ish for Midd.

don’t worry, you’re not self-absorbed. and you have great stats for colleges! I think Cornell is a stretch but you’re a strong candidate for the other schools! I definitely understand having a lower SAT (even though yours is still higher than mine) and I don’t think if everything else is close to perfect that it will hurt you tremendously.

I think you have a great chance at all the UCs. You’re a very well rounded applicant and I think you have a good chance for the claremont colleges, NYU, and UMich. i think cornell would be a low reach.

aim4mundane, ■■■■ I mean it , get the **** off. Giving people false hope is not the way to go about chancing them, if you want to help someone be a little realistic.

Don’t worry too much about your SAT scores, my best friend was admitted to Columbia with a 2000 and no hooks/recruit/or URM. BUT, she had a ridiculously high GPA and was valedictorian for 3 years in a row, so I think it’s safe to say that many colleges care just as much about GPA (if not more) than SAT scores.
Other than your testing, your application looks great! Perfect GPA and strong ECs. Although, I can’t speak for your essays as I have not read them.
But either way, I think you have a solid chance at any of your schools, except for maybe Cornell and Pomona (they’re quite fickle).

There must have been something else this person brought to the community (sometimes the hooks aren’t apparent). And to the OP, your SAT score may play a factor if you are looking to get into the Engineering program at UC/cornell.
