deferred, darn

I just got my deferred letter today from ILR. from reading the other threads out there, i learned that i could :
1)contact admission officer and find out what could be improved (should i do that or get my counselor to)
2)use the next couple of months to strengthen the application
3)write a letter of interest
I heard ILR simply defers all of its rejections from ED, so I guess my chances are pretty slim eh?
Any suggestions or help?
a very devastated applicant.

i got deferred from ILR too! ugh
How/who can I contact to find out what could be improved?

and, where’d you hear that ILR defers all their ED rejections?

scrondinger, i believe you’re correct.

I figured calling the admission office would be a good idea, (607-255-5241). but there are those who advise not to because it seems too pushy; however I am an international student and talking to my counselor might not be able to help as much …
garrr, any ideas?

two, actually. 1) Do something spectacular outside of school between now and Jan 1 and send that in. 2) Wait and see.

hey you guys…
i got accepted ed for ilr.
i mean this in the sincerest way possible, is there any way i could help out idkkk?
i doubt much separates my resume/grades from everyone else but if theres anything i could do please let me know.
i really dont want to sound pretentious but i fear i might have. ugh i apologize if thats how i come across.

i don’t think simply waiting would be a good idea though. If my application didn’t catch their eye even with the bonus of early decision, how would it stand out during regular decision.
:frowning: :frowning: :(

i know people that got rejected from ilr. It is definitely possible to get rejected from there. I was also deferred from ilr.

I was under the impression that the ILR school either accepted or deferred ED. My D was expecting a “deferred e-mail” which she got. However, another student in her school with better stats than her was rejected.
To me that means that no matter how slim, there is still a fighting chance for all deferred. Yes, the odds are more since the competition will be more, but the chance is still there. Don’t give up!!

:( the admissions office is closed on the 10th.

Deferred from ILR also, ah well. Life goes on right?

do they actually let you speak with your admission officer?

you definitely don’t have to do anything extra, just wait. a lot of people are deferred not because their stats aren’t good enough (they would be rejected then), but only because there’s not enough room for them in the ED cycle, and they want to leave room for RD people.

looks like they weren’t able to tell me anything of particular interest. best course of action right now seems to be updating them on marks and continued interest…
